resume question

Okay,I reallize that most jobs will just come down to the amount of hours you have logged.
My question is how much other background info should you put down if you do not have that many hours to get you in the door. The door seemed wide open months ago , but it is slowly closing for the low time pilot. I have my commercial multi now.

ex, My military background, college degree, etc.... previous work history (non aviation) How in depth should I go?

Does anyone know where I can look at a resume for avaition to get ideas and start putting something together?

I am a late career changer and I want to see what offers are out there and what opportunities I have before I make further decisions to sell my business?

To think 2 years ago i decide to go for the career change and now here I am, what to do!

If you haven't already done so google " pilot resumes ", Don't worry about your late career change, regionals and majors both hire into late forties and early fifties..I hope this info was useful.

I'd say put anything on there that will get you an interview. I'm fresh out of school so mine is something like this.

Education, Flight Experience, work experience, Activities awards and honors.

I guess in your case having your own business for work experience you could put down the name of the business duties performed and nature of service or product sold.

Not sure if I should put flight experience/hrs before education or not but I don't think it's going to be that big of a deal.

Try to put as much as you can down related to aviation. If you got space, write in the other things that bring real value to your resume. Keep it to 1 page. Keep it to 1 page.

Keeping in mind it should only be a page, my personal opinion is that you don't need to put every job you've had in the last decade on this "summary" resume. Its always good to have a multipage one handy, but for sending off to airlines, I think a one page resume might be best. On mine that I just sent in, I had the following:

Contact Info
Flight Time (Total, PIC, ME, Actual Instrument, Simulated Instrument, Aircraft Flown)
Education (After High School)
Last 4 Jobs
Other Stuff (AOPA, NAUI Scuba Diver)

Make sure you have all living and job history (exact dates, address, contact number, salary, etc) handy for the interview. Any gap that is longer then 30 days should have an reason.
