| Eagle Interview Well I have just landed an interview at American Eagle and I was curious to how everything will go. I gave myself a month to prepare and get everything ready for it. Can anyone help me out on what is going to happen? What to know a lil bit about and what to know a lot about? How is the sim check done? What dose the HR interview consist of? What aircraft will they ask me about on systems? Thanks for all your help in advance and wish me luck! |

| Re: Eagle Interview Why would you want to come to Eagle? Just kidding! You're going to be asked that a lot, especially by the cynics on Eagle Lounge... but the truth is, most of the folks on the line like their job. Any gripes pilots have are common issues you would face industry wide. Aviation Interviews was an invaluable resource for preparing for my interview. Know your Jepps, know the basic 121 regs regarding duty and flight time. For the sim eval, know how to enter a hold, and brush up on your BAI with MSFS or an FTD. Good luck!!! |

I just passed 1000TT, only 39ME. I've been holding off until I hit 50ME so as not to be denied or told I can't apply again for 6months. So you DO have an interview date and they DO know your times?? Thanks! |

| Re: Eagle Interview Jepps/RVR and a basic understanding of what a departure alternate is.
Finger fly STARS/DPs and be able to read an Jepps airport diagram.
Brief an approach
TAF/Metars
VDP
121 duty regs
Systems--not so much
I can't remember any more on the Tech portion
HR was really straightforward, although I think I said one bad answer.
*( what is your biggest fault-- I said I worked too hard-- and I wish I didn't say that b/c I meant something else by that statement).
The Tech Pilot and the HR recruiter both said I did a great job and marked "excellent" on my file, though.
I thought it was a great experience- but I was highTT /low multi so it didn't work out.
You will do fine-- it's set up to be an non-stress event and I was suprised at how relaxed I was throughout the whole thing. You are smart to study up though, it will help.
Good luck!

| Re: Eagle Interview Hey all-
I got hired at Eagle in October. I'm a DFW based ERJ-145 first officer now.
I'm lovin' it.
If you have any questions about the interview process, or what happens after that, feel free to PM me. I'll be more than glad to answer any questions you've got.
Good luck!

dj4rd - No I have not interviewed but will apply as soon as I have 50ME for the same reasons you mentioned. |

| Re: Eagle Interview Hey Charlie,
I am looking to applying in the next two weeks and was wondering what the reserve time at DFW is. I believe LAX is not a base choice anymore so I would either go to ORD or DFW. Thanks a lot!

| Re: Eagle Interview Thanks to all the well wishers.
In the interest of not running several messages, I'm going to try to answer all questions in this post:
First off, I've been flying alot on reserve. When I was ORD based (up to last Friday) I flew pretty much everyday. I was able to proffer for a trip or two as well, which meant that it wasn't day tripping, and the per diem clock was running.
As far as DFW flying, I'm not sure about the Reserve times. I know it will vary by fleet and seniority, though. Stan, aka Ready2Fly, just recently was able to hold a line after a year and a half. He flies the CRJ-700. The Saab still gets a new hire student now and again and the Embraer gets the bulk of most classes. Your age and date of hire will really determine Reserve time for you.
Beyond that, remember that things in all airlines fluctuate, and whatever Reserve time is now may change greatly by tomorrow or the next day.
In other words, I have no real idea.
The Embraer fleet is much larger and there is much more movement in the pilot ranks. I'm told DFW runs towards the senior side, so I expect to be on Reserve a little longer here than in ORD.
Either way, if I pick up some open time here and there I should bring home fairly decent paychecks and still fly a good amount each month. That's important to me, because I need to soak up the hours so when I finally am able to hold an upgrade bid, I have experience to do the job justice.
Hope this helps your understanding a bit. When I know more I'll share more. In the interim, don't hesitate to post or PM me if you'd like to know more.

| Re: Eagle Interview I think the sim portion has been the same for years. Take off out of Long Beach towards the west, get vectored around, Direct to Seal Beach VOR, brief a hold, shoot some approaches at Long Beach. |

| Re: Eagle Interview I am about a month away from interviewing at Eagle. Just a few questions for those already there. I read on airlinepilotcentral.com that they are upgrading capt. about 15-20 a month but they are still advertising a 7 yr upgrade. I heard that they did not hire for 3+ yrs. Whats the deal with the upgrade time?
Next question. How is BOS for a base? I am from there and would love to be based at home. Thanks in advance. |

Next question. How is BOS for a base? I am from there and would love to be based at home. Thanks in advance. | Run a search for "Eagle upgrade time estimate" threads here. I wrote one a while back.
There are THREE people on the seniority list with hire dates in 2003.
In other words, sometime in the next year the seven year upgrade time will drop to three or four.
It's coming down. It can only get better.

| Re: Eagle Interview Yeah, its pay 7 grand and they have a flow through thing to AE.
Its either a 10 week program or a 3 week thing.
I have a few buds who did it and now they are going into IOE at AE.
Seems to work so far. |
