Can you guys provide a bit more on the process of how that works? Do you interview with Eagle first and then ask about this program? Or do you deal with FS first? How do people seem to get into this program?

| http://www.flightsafetyacademy.com/c...eTrack_000.pdf I just called FSA and got their side of it. You come to them, pay them $2340 for a 1 week multi engine evaluation. you will get 4 hrs Seminole time out of it. Then they send you to interview. If you choose to interview with Eagle and are accepted, you do the 8 week stage 2. This costs $18,140. Eagle will pay $10k of it, but you must repay Eagle over time. In other words they will take it out of your check. Also, you pay the $18,140 and the $2340 ALL up front. They refund you the Stage 2 if you do not get a conditional offer of employment to continue to stage 2. AND this does not include room and board. $17.50/night for double occupancy room for all this. I did not think it would be that great of a deal personally, but wanted to be diligent and check into it.

Well after all this worry about getting an airline job I applied for Trans States in the begining of feb. My Eagle app went in in Jan and I just decided to take some time to get ready for that interview. Well TSA calls me and says we would like you to interview. Can you do it Tuesday?(This was on the Friday beforehand). I said sure thing. Well I got to the interview I was on the same day in same day out flight since they run in and out of OKC. I had some serious thinking to do. My son lives here in OK. I really would like to be off reserve and in the CA chair asap and would like to get on a line asap. Well I went to the interview and got the job with TSA. I still have my eagle interview set up but I just don't think I will even take it. I have heard from some pilots that are currently there that reserve is around a year and DFW upgrade time is 5 years? Well after this whole spill i'm wondering about any opinions anyone might have? What do you think?

Most Junior Captain at AE right now, according to APC, is almost 8 years. From talking with the AE recruiters and several others that time will go down by more than three years sometime this year. This is because AE flowed back all the furloughed AA pilots after 9/11 and did not hire for 3 years. I have also heard that AA is not pulling furloughed pilots back from AE as fast as originally anticpated due to Age 65 and the uncertainty caused by merger talks lately. Finally, AMR has said they will sell AE off. That was 4 months ago. Some speculate it was said just to get rid of some annoying investors. Time will tell. I am not sure how it would affect AE alot, but time would tell. My take, just as an observer...AE is a good company. AE pilots here at JC seem to be very happy. They pay decent and have a decent contract. Upgrade time sucks royally is the main thing. They pay good the second year versus TSA. I really don't know much about TSA.

Not really. APC's estimate of upgrade time is overinflated. Yes, the guys upgrading now have been here around seven or eight years. So we're upgrading the 2001 newhires. Now factor in things like there were THREE people on the SL from 2003.. and well.. it changes things. Expect upgrade to take around 4 years at present upgrade rates. Also.. word has it from a guy I flew with the other day that he's about to be forced to flow up to AA. Apparently he was a TWA flowback. AA recently induced a few key labor shortages by inadvertantly prodding a good number of pilots to retire. The slinky-action causes a slide up in both lists at AA and AE are a result. AE's unlikely to be sold outright, as a whole. Who'd buy us? My theory- it's a hammer on APA's pilot negotiations. Putting us outside the AA umbrella is AMR's way of making us "codeshare" to try to circumvent APA scope restrictions. They're doing it to prod movement in the AE seniority list at the top end and yank APA's chain... and to pacify the investors. On the other hand, some guys got fed up with sitting around here for five or six years and bailed for elsewhere. Skywest, for example. I'd wager they hadn't expected to be sitting around on reserve flying 5 hours a month there... with nobody getting hired under them. We still have shortages in the ERJ-145 department, especially in ORD. If you want in at Eagle, now's the time to do it. If Merger-palooza starts and everybody stops moving, you don't want to be the one without a chair when the music stops.

Don't do it! That's just my jaded opinion of the Regional. I went a different route and it worked out for me. Good luck to you guys and girls. Don't sweat it and don't let anyone break your spirit! There's lots of opportunity in Alaska to get a start and you will certainly make more in coffee can! |

| I was at McGuire in the 6th AS 93-97. Had a buddy in the 8th. Probably young if you retired in 96. His name is Alex Walter.

What is the best technique to getting ORD EMB, I read somewhere that requesting BOS or LGA in the interview first is the best way to do it if you are in the younger crowd. Then you can transfer to ORD after a month or something like that. Or is it better to just risk it and hope for ORD EMB slot after the interview. Can someone please give me some insight. Thanks

From my understanding....if you request it, you get it-period...exceptions being MIA and LAX of late. A lot will bid BOS or LGA to guarantee the EMB and then transfer so the chance of getting the CRJ with the long reserve isn't there. |

Bidding ORD will all but ensure the EMB, but there's still a tiny chance you'd get the CRJ. I can guarantee if you pick BOS or LGA and then drop a base bid to ORD you'll get ORD right out of school, with maybe a month's delay for the flow plan (organization of transfers). I did something similar- I bid ORD for a jet (hopefully the EMB) and was willing to accept the CRJ in exchange for a short commute from DFW until I could get a transfer. I wound getting the EMB and dropped a transfer bid in ground school. A month after I was done with IOE.. I was DFW based. If anybody's hesitating to 'wait and see', I'd just go ahead and apply now unless you really have a better alternative. With the market fluctuating the way it is right now, it's better to have a job and not like it than not have a job.

MIA and LAX are closed because they are simply over staffed. Something like 120 open FO EMJ positions in ORD. They need pilots bad. -Rob

For the people who interviewed with AE this week (April 28th, 29th 30th), are they still using the frasca 142 setup as a barron for sim evals? I have an interview coming up soon and was just curious on what to expect. Thanks! |

AE has been looking better to me here. just 3-4 year upgrade still sounds too much. plus I'd love to get MIA so i wouldn't have to move, but oh well... I still have like a year to go, but oh well. I'd do that FSA thing, but meng. 10 grand is way too much... not to mention they take the remainder 10 out of ur paycheck in time....

I have a eagle interview coming up soon and another interview about 1 week after the eagle interview. Just curious if AE offers me a job, does HR require an immediate yes or no answer or do they give you the option of letting them know within a specified amount of time? |
