I got the E-mail below. Your sit in the right seat could be a few months... so be careful. Are they replacing some of the CommutAir flying out of CLE? Seems odd that they'd open PIT/CLE. I'd look at this job... but too much of a pay cut from my 2nd year pay as an FO. That is a shame!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gulfstream is currently interviewing for pilot classes in January and February. This additional hiring is to accommodate additional BE-1900 aircraft which will be based in the Pittsburgh/Cleveland area.

If selected, any pilot who meets ATP minimums will be trained in the left seat and will exit training with a type rating in the BE-1900. Then they will fly the few months until their seniority holds a captain position. The wait for the captain position may not be very long at all since the current list of pilots waiting to upgrade will be exhausted by March.

Pilots in training considered full-time Gulfstream employees from the first day of training and are eligible immediately for travel benefits on Continental Airlines. Also, pilots in training are paid; the current contract calls for a flat 80-hour (pro-rated) guarantee per month of training. Pay will be at First Officer rates since the contract prohibits captain pay until a captain base assignment is made. Beginning January 1, 2008, FO pay will go up to $19.01/hr. Pilots not living in the Fort Lauderdale area will be supplied with a hotel room during the class room training period. All pilots will receive a hotel room in Orlando where the Flight Safety Simulator is located.

If you are interested in interviewing for such a position, please respond to this email. Currently, interviews are held in Fort Lauderdale . The interview process lasts about 3 hours and must be completed by January 8 for the class beginning January 14 or completed between January 6 and February 5 for the class beginning February 11, 2008.

If you are no longer interested in such an offer, or you would like to wait for a future interview date, please also respond to this email so that I can properly note your resume.

I was showing my student how to get flight following the other day when flying out of KLNA, which is right next to KPBI (Palm Beach). Called up Palm Beach Appch, which was moderately busy. After my initial call "PB Appch, Skyhawk XXX, VFR request", they got back to us. Gave the usual "We're a Cessna 172 out of LNA, 1,000 ft, requesting flight following to KDAB at 6,500". I do this about a million times a week, and am very quick, clear, and to the point with my flight following requests.

Anyway, some little gulfstreamer gets on after my request and says "Yeahhhh, this is Gulf Flight blah, blah, blah. Just trying to get a word in here, geez."

The controller tells him to standby and gave me my squawk code, which I read back. Gulfstreamer then goes "Wow... Anyway, we''re going to blah, blah blah."

He just came off the whole time as being superior in every way to the little Cessna 172 wasting his time talking to approach control. What a tool!
