What would an airline do if they cannot verify employment for a period of time? Example would be if a former employer went out of business, or you were flight training (at an FBO or from freelance instructor)?
The only airline I've applied to asked me to provide tax documents or school transcripts to cover any period of time where employment could not be verified (example...when a company goes out of business). I'd guess that a logbook could also "prove" you were a full time flight student somewhere.
I think that they can also check social security, as they have all places you have worked that paid in for you. So unless you worked for yourself, and did not pay, or were paid under the table it will be listed. You can get a copy by contacting the SS office near you. Maybe even on line now, it really does help to have it when filling out a 10 year or more background.
Thanks.....I always wondered what specific information they obtain when contacting previous employers. Any ideas? I'm assuming dates of employment?
There's only so much information the employer can give them. Check with your local (state) department of labor to find out the details. Mostly it's dates of employment and position...sometimes pay.
