| Couple of ?'s for ya'll First....I've read over quite a few interview experiences for Airnet and there is a question that is asked about "What 4 ways can you verify landing gear is down and locked (besides green lights)?" I've seen that question, but haven't seen or been able to come up with 4 reasonable answers. Does anyone who interviewed with Airnet have any feedback to the answers they were looking for?
Second....I see in a lot of interview prep suggestions where folks mention getting the Intro to Jepp publications or something along those lines to find out everything you want to know about Jepp charts. Is this something you pro pilots get with subscribtion renewals? I'm trying to get my hands on one of those introductions to see what kind of info it provides. Please PM me if anyone can help out....
Thanks

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll Those Q's are so ambiguous. Be more specific like AC type etc. Just know how to read a chart.
For an aztec/navajo for example you move the gear handle, you hear it move, you feel it move the handle snaps into position when it has locked the mirror if you have one. Navajo also has a transit light.

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll It sounds as if you may be looking at gouges for several different companies since Airnet does not use Jepp's (aside from the enroute charts, and you'll have plenty of time in cruise to figure out what all the symbols are). They love that gear down and locked question for some reason. Inevitably, no matter how good or correct your answer is to that question, the interviewer will launch into how some of the Baron's have no real way of telling if the gear is down and locked. Just know the systems on your current A/C.
For the people interviewing at places that use Jepp approach charts, I strongly recommend combing through the Jepp chart clinic series available on the Jepp website. It is about 30 articles around 2 pages each that go into detail of how to use the Jepp charts. If you do not have access to the "intro" section that comes with a Jepp binder full of charts, this information is priceless going into an interview. |

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll For the gear down and locked question, off the top of my head...
1 Green Lights
2 In-transit light out
3 No gear warning horn with throttle retarded
4 Man I always forget the 4th one...maybe mirrors on engine nacelle.
I can't remember what I said for the fourth. Anyway if you want info on interview gouges, check out aviationinterviews.com. Good site!

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll Thanks SMILEY....you're right though, I have been looking at several different companies interview results. The JEPP chart question wasn't specific to Airnet, but in general since I've seen it a lot and folks tend to recommend the introduction section of JEPP.
Below in a excerpt from an interviewee and the reason I got to thinking about it:
"The question is: There are 4 ways to know that your GEAR is DOWN and LOCKED!!! The key word here is LOCKED... What if the 3 green don't come on? is the gear locked? Also, in most retractable gear aircraft you also will have an audible warning if you pull back the throttles too far and the plane thinks you are about ready to land... BUT, these are only two ways?"
Perhaps the 3 green lights will be a correct answer, the transit being out is a good one that MURPH mentioned, and the audible warning with the throttle. In my limited knowledg of complex acft, I'm trying to think of another way. The mirrors don't necessarily prove hte gear is locked. I've been surfin' quite a few sites and had run across that question about the gear and thought I'd throw it out there--also knew we have/had several folks from Airnet on this site. Thanks for the info provided thus far.

2. Aural horn.....When the throttle is reduced below a set limit (Throttle lever angle) and the gear is retracted.
3. Aural horn.....When Landing Gear Test switch is activated when flaps are below approach and aircraft is below 500 feet.
4. Gear lights (3 green and no unlock) on the panel. |

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll Just a follow up in case anyone cares :-)
Got the answer this weekend while talking to Airnet recruiter in Vegas at NJC 07:
1. Three greens
2. Transit light out
3. Throttle warning
4. Flap warning
I had thought it would be a little trickier than that, since I don't have a lot of time in complex aircraft. Hmmm, learn something new everyday I 'spose. |

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll I am curious have many of you seen this question before in your interviews? I could see it being a common question.

| Re: Couple of ?'s for ya'll I was asked this in my interview at Airnet.
My only other aviation interview was for a flight school and they asked me if I could work the next day and that was it.
