Congrats on finishing ground and getting out of here asap! I envy you for not having to spend another week here and putting up with the bs from some of your neighbors. The Saab is a challenge but I think I have it figured out. Just looking forward to the sim. Enjoy the sun down there in Orlando. I am going to Houston with Tim ( my roomate and sim partner) on Oct. 20th. As you know he lives there and should be nice to have a local to show me the area. Hopefully I'll run into somewhere down the line also. Good job again at ground and have fun in the sim! PS. Say hi to Mike Fanzen and Jason for me.

Ed is awesome. He knows every question that students will ask. He's heard them all.

man, I don't know if I should feel stupid or not, but those random 2 second questions would have gotten me pretty hard... I don't know any Oscar winners, I'm not a sports fan or anything either.. I would have known the VP and maybe like 1 or 2 more. I guess that is not a good sign.

What was your answer for the 'why you over other higher time applicants?'

also, what kind weather stuff gets asked? few tough questions you can remember out of there?

who cares what they ask, you should cancel the interview cause they make you share rooms.

Does Colgan allow you to pick your base, and if so how likely is it to get based in NYC?

They give you a bid sheet in training and you select the bases in order you would like them. In order of 1-24 or something, but it doesnt matter, they will put you were they need you and down the road you should be able to attain your base of choice. If you want LGA I would say you have a very good shot at getting it. If you live there then you would be all set otherwise it's expensive to live close to LGA. Sounds like you live there which is good. Good luck.

Having to share a room during training is really not a big deal. It helps to have someone to study with and bounce different questions off one another. Hopefully you dont get stuck with an pain in the rear. I can say my roomie was cool and we hit it off great and are now sim partners and still helping one another through sim. Having your own room could potentialy set you up to be a shut in which could hurt your studies. I dont know, just my opinion. Training is not vacation.

It CAN be (if you have two small children at home). Depends on your perspective....

(I'm looking forward to not having my two-year-old wake me in the middle of the night to go potty, or having my six-year-old wake me as he's trying to "sneak" into my bed in the middle of the night. That kid can't sneak anywhere!)

because the person across the room isn't your freind he is a co worker. been through a few ground schools never shared a room and never failed a checkride. if you think sharing a room will help you pass a checkride i guess you can keep thinking that. what if that person snores like a chainsaw, has a different sleep patter, doesnt flush after dropping a duece, what if you just dont get along with the other guy. the list is so long why you shouldn't share rooms. not to mention it is a really big sign of how well(or bad in this case) the company treats its employees.

I agree with you, the excuse that having a roommate helps you pass ground school is just Kool Aid B.S. The company has double occupancy rooms for new hires for one reason only, to save $$$.
With that being said, It's pretty common at regionals to share a room. Colgan is not the only one who does this, but there are some that don't. I personally don't like sharing a room. I'm lucky I had a good roommate but wouldn't want to do it again.
As far as having a issue with your roommate, Colgan will help solve that problem. In my class some guys got their own rooms because one of them snored pretty loudly.

I have a 3 yearold at home also. Yes, it's nice to get a full 8 hours of sleep so that is one positive thing. As far as having a partner help you not fail a checkride, I dont know where Q-ball got that from. I never failed a checkride either. I guess being a former Marine has prepared me for sleeping with another person in the room for 4 weeks. Big friggin deal. I only said it's nice to have someone to throw questions at and maybe help one another out if there are questions. If the person snores or has issues that affect you then sac it up and say something to a person in the training department. We had an issue like that in ground and it was resolved immediately. Way to many momma's boys here. Whaaa, whaaa, whaaa.
