The TAF they have you read isn't meant to trick you or be obscure in any way. Just show them you know what you are reading (ie valid times, TEMPO, VCTS, -SHRA, etc.) They will then tell you that you are going to be landing at this airport at a particular time, what weather can be expected? Do we need an alternate, etc. Good Luck.

Would Scenic consider me if I am only 20? It says 21 on their website, but I saw a gouge on aviationinterviews.com where a 20 year old got hired with no internal rec. Also, is there any contact I could use to "butter myself up" before applying, or do they frown upon that?

I would love the opportunity to fly for them, and would truly give them my all.

21 is a requirement that is unfortunately set in stone. But you should apply when you turn 21.

This is true. For their sake I won't put any names but we were told in class the other day that it was ridiculous how people of our generation think we can always have exceptions to rules. They said they were referring exactly to that.

How many persons are in your class? If I applied in Mid October, do you think that would be too late to get on based on your observations?

We have 8 in our current class, all FO's. I know that they have interviews set up from now until the beginning of October. While it does slow down a bit starting in November, based on FO attrition I would say they aren't going to stop hiring anytime soon. But I would get the application in ASAP.

Just post it, others might be interested. No reason to keep it in PM.

What are you guys doing for travel and accommodations for the interview? I've been looking at Orbitz and other similar sites. Anyone else coming from across the country?

I've never actually had to buy an airline ticket before.

I would try any of the search engines for regular travel....travelocity.com, expedia.com, cheaptickets.com. If your flying out of BNA....try SouthWest and see what type of prices they do have.

So I take it that you have been called in to interview? Whats your interview date?

I booked a room at the Best Western they provided a link to and am coming in on Southwest.

Not yet. I'm being optimistic and trying to think ahead a little bit.

My friend was 19 when he interviewed. Granted he wasn't hired but it wasn't because of his age. I would apply anyways.

I don't think there are many hotels in Boulder City, but plenty in Vegas. Try Boulder Highway, on the way to Henderson. It's only abou 15 minutes to the interview site.

Any idea what it cost for an apartment out there. I plan on sending in a resume next month but worry about surviving out there.

I would prolly look at some other options....and if I dont meet the requirements start instructing and then apply to the other companies. Hard but true. I'm having to go that route. Planning on working on the CFI shortly.

240/15

The only recent time I have is my BFR and IPC, so recency might be an issue.

Hmmm, I have 303TT/9.5 Multi. I have "good" recency but maybe I should get another 10 hours of multi time to look stronger on the application?

It's hard to say, without knowing why I haven't been called.

My low time is a weakness, along with not much recent flight experience. Maybe I should just call them and ask.

Don't feel too bad.
I have 255 TT and 135 ME. I haven't heard a thing since I applied almost two weeks ago. Maybe this is a sign from the Almighty that I should be instructing
