| Help DAL recent interviewees I've got an interview with Delta coming up and would love to chat with anyone who's recently done it.. I am curious if the willflyforfood gauge back from 2000 is still accurate?
I'd be more than happy to paypal anyone for their time a fee to talk over the phone or what ever.
PM me if you're able to help.
Thanks |

Seems like an awful lot of questions if they're just examples and not the actual ones.. And if they are indeed the actual ones, why would DAL allow for that, and not change them?
Thanks for the response. |

| Re: Help DAL recent interviewees Well, there's a 'bank' of questions.
The MMPI stuff, don't look at any gouge on that because if you try to guess what they want to hear, you're going to screw up your results. But you'll probably see the MMPI at least a couple times so be honest and straightforward. Are you afraid of fire? Hell's yes. But if you answer "No" in a later MMPI when you answered "yes" in a previous, it's going to spike your dishonesty quotient. Just be honest. You're human.
The questions on the personnel interview, well, at that point, they pretty much want to hire you so just be honest again. Don't try to gouge up your answers. They want to see that you're going to come to work when you should, fit in with the group and be able to be flexible and make 'fast friends' with a lot of people. It's very fraternal around here for the most part unlike some other companies.
The tech questions are pretty spot on. I'd HEAVILY suggest reviewing the ATP written guide and the ASVAB. Read the technical questions, learn the science behind it because it's s show-stopper if you score too low.
Don't worry about the "you MUST wear a black, thinly pinstriped suit with a red-hued tie...blah blah blah". Just come looking professional, like you want the job. Chances are, they'll ask you to take off your coat and relax so they won't even see (or care) that you have light hued conservative thin pinstripes or whatever psychobabble some folks talk about.
I think they're looking for people that they'd want to do a four-day trip with and the type of guy you'd say after blocking-in, "Hey! Here's my number, next time you're in town, gimme a ring".
There's a tremendously small, almost non-existent "A-hole" factor (Hey! Did you fly with "X"? Oh, he's an A-hole -- you know what I'm talking about) -- surprisingly small compared to a lot of other airlines and i think they intend to keep it that way.
The medical is pretty easy, but they take A LOT of blood. But it's no more intense than a standard first class medical. Read the Snellen eye chart, check your hearing, an EKG, blood pressure... Easy.
The visit to the psych. A lot of guys get freaked out because they heard that another guy went there and sat in the chair wrong and the Dr. failed him. All of the hype is, in my opinion, about 99% bullcrap. Just go there, talk to the guy, you're normal, you're not going to be holed up in a belltower with a 30 ott 6 or working on a manifesto in a shack in the woods. Be yourself, no worries. Hell, I even cracked a joke with the guy and people said, "OMG! OMG! The last guy who showed humor didn't get hired!" but I'm in the middle of my 10th year. Not a big deal, just talk to the guy and relax.
Everyone is an adult, they know when you're bulls'ing or you're giving a canned answer from some prep guide. Just be yourself. They're looking for good people that'll play well with others. They're NOT looking for Chuck Yeager, but they're NOT looking for Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski either.
Good luck, kick butt and see ya at Spondivits or B-52's. |

| Re: Help DAL recent interviewees I spoke with an asst to one of the fleet captain's last week and asked about the interview process. He said it was the same as 2000's and will re-evaluate it after a period of one year to see if changes need to be made. So I think the gouge is good.
BTW, Spondivits has become "high-brow"...the food's expensive, the dinner waits are long and get this....they have valet parking! Whatever. |

| Re: Help DAL recent interviewees That IS true. I haven't been to Spondivits for a few years because last time I went with Kristie, a couple of beers and an appetizer and I spent well north of $40.
If you're a beer snob like myself (actually, I'll drink damned near anything after 2005) that English (Irish? Scottish?) to the west past the training hotel a few blocks is fantastic if the weather's nice.
Ran into a bunch of guys from Flightinfo and they didn't try to jump me or anything! |

| It's called the Manchester Arms.

There's also another place just past the railroad tracks but you might need a car to get there. It's like it's built in a old garage or gas station.
Tasty food and a decent selection of beers too. |

That's the Brake Pad. Unfortunately that's it for the names I know. Don't forget the new place that opened up between the hotel and the Manchester Arms. They serve Southern Style food but I haven't eaten there so can't give you a recommendation. However, you can never go wrong with the Country Kitchen!

| Re: Help DAL recent interviewees Delta interview? Don't you have to pick the right chair to sit in, or they spin you around in a chair, or something that? I just remember something about a chair...

Some things it's just not right to charge for. I hope nobody take you up on the paypal thing. |

| Re: Help DAL recent interviewees Ooh!
For clarification that's what it sounds like when the waitress asks, "Would you like a 'refill' on your vegetables?"
The Country/BBQ Kitchen has free 'refills' on vegetables. So if you'd like a little extra black eyed pea, they'll bring you some more out. |
