Default Comair Interview

Interviewed with Comair on March 6, 2007. Flew out to CVG the day before the interview and stayed at the Baymont Hotel. The hotel is fine if you want to save some money ($39), but the Holiday Inn is much nicer! The day started with a presentation about the company, benefits, training and a tour of the building. The interview itself was straightforward. No surprises and straight from the interview gouges and the study guide.

Questions from HR Person:

1. Why do you want to work for Comair?
2. How did you get into aviation?
3. How did you prepare for this interview?
4. Tell me about your current job/education background.
5. How would you define CRM?
6. What qualities make a good First Officer?
7. Tell me a time you made a bad decision while flying?
8. What did you learn from instructing?
9. How do you think you will handle training and the transition to the CRJ?
10. What do you do when you’re overwhelmed?
11. Captain decides not to use checklists? What will you do?
12. Captain is flying towards a thunderstorm. What will you do?

Questions from Captain:

Showed me a flight release form from IND to JFK.
1. What are IFR fuel requirements?
2. Why two alternates listed?
3. Part 121 T/O Minimums?
4. Decode METAR.
5. Decode TAF. Do we need an alternate? How would you pick an alternate?
6. Decode Wind Aloft at FL300.
7. Brief the ILS 31L into JFK.
8. What is FAF on Precision Approach?
9. What does MSA give you?
10. Looked at Arrival Chart into JFK. How would you hold at FL190? Max Speed?
11. Entering publish hold from the North, what kind of entry?
12. Max airspeed in and below Class B airspace?
13. Tell me about your current Twin-Engine landing gear? How does it operate?
14. Emergency Gear Extension Procedure?
15. Engine failure 500 AGL? What do you do?
16. What is Vmc?
17. What affects Vmc?
18. What is Vyse? Airspeed?
19. What is V1? What is V2?
20. What is accelerated stop distance?
21. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a swept wing?

After lunch at the Comair Cafeteria the groups switched. Don’t worry about the Cog. Test! It’s a game! Relax and have some fun with it. Thanks to all the people at Comair for a great day. Good luck to everyone interviewing! PM me if you have any questions.

Have you heard anything yet?

You had to pay for your own hotel? Did you have to pay to get there too?

Haven't heard anything, yet! Hopefully soon. You have to pay for your own hotel, but you get the Comair Rate. They pay for the flight to/from CVG. I even got First Class on the way there.
