| The 550 guy went to ATP. I think they have a contract for guaranteed interviews or something after so much time instructing, not sure of the details. He said he went from zero time last June to the interview that day. That is working your a$$ off!

Although I had my Private for 5 years before I started and worked at a small airport in Ohio helping mechanics fix aircraft and other airport chores. I went to Kent State University and did the Aviation program there... so I had a slightly broader background going into ATP
I had 535 Total and 325 Multi. I did the ExpressJet internship in Fall 2003 and decided to get all my ratings. Started the 90-day career pilot program on May 30th, 2005 then started instructing in October. Interviewed on the 6th of April and I'll be starting on May 8th, 2006.
Since I had the internship I saved myself a couple of grand by not having to do the RJ Standards Course... so I had that going for me.
I had fun instructing for ATP... 29 signoffs... and I still have 4 more to give before I leave for good. I could have snagged 3 Gold Seals! |

| I was in the same interview group and was unfortunatley not offered a job. Just curious, how many of the 40+ that interviewed made it through?

I know around 8-10 were in the drug test lab when I was there... but I have no idea how many made it since some went through really early. I do know that they filled up the April 24th class and since I was one of the later ones I ended up in the May 8th class. |

| I am guessing 25-30 got hired that day. No specific numbers or anything, but I know at least five or six had already done thier paperwork by the time I did mine. There were another ten or so doing paperwork while I was in there and there were still a dozen folks waiting to finish interviewing when I left to do my fingerprinting and pee test. Sorry you didn't get hired. Anything specific that you can think of that tripped you up? Not to bust on you or anything like that, just perhaps good info for those that will interview in the future. Did they invite you to reapply? I have heard if they do you are almost a shoe-in the second time around... I know other friends of mine that interviewed earlier this year, some of them didn't get hired and most of them weren't quite sure what it was that they said or did to not get the job.

| They said to re apply in 3 months,THe first two portions went great, even the first line captain said i did well, but in the HR portion, i was asked no HR at all. It was as if they had no intent on hiring me then, seems like on the other gouges ive read they ask questions asking how you will fit in when they hire you, i got none of that. I went in and got fired question after question, two i had to just admit to not knowing, what QNH was and what would it mean if i saw CAVOK on a metar. You know at that part of the day i thought the tech part was over, but I was wrong. Heard of QNH and couldnt recall and Ive never heard of CAVOK, but now i know clear skies and vis ok. I will try again in 3 months, meanwhile i have a class date for the 24th with flight express. Cheers

| They did the same thing to me in the HR portion, they seemed very angry and questioned my technical knowledge. What is an FMS, can you describe a jet engine, etc. Luckily I had studied up a bit and was able to answer. I would've been screwed if they asked me CAVOK, as I didn't know what that was. I think I would've gotten QNH. |

I remember on my sim ride at UPS the guy got all huffy at me. Also, during the HR part they made fun of my Riddle degree (I'm not kidding).
I think they like to poke at you to see your reaction. Some guys have really thin skin and just can't take it. |

| Yeah, it can anywhere.
I remember one of the CPs who interviewed me during the HR portion and kinda pushed me, maybe poking fun, at something I had written on my resume. I laughed, talked about it a little, and then we moved on--I do think they sometime to stress you out a bit or test you to see how you take it.
I know QNH, but what's CAVOK? Never seen that on a METAR. |
