Default Scenic Airlines (as of 05/26/2005)

I got the call that I was wanted for an interview in late April. I took the furthest interview date available so I could prepare. So by the end of the call I had just over a month to study.

Once I got to the interview it was a simple 35 question ATP test with spatial orientation questions (if circle a spins this way which way does circle c spin - with diagrams - etc.). It was simple because I had studied for 2.5 weeks during my month and took the ATP written scoring an 86%.

After the written we went to the sim. It's an ATC 820. It's a fairly easy sim to fly but do the sim prep as it will help you get used to the box. My profile was as follows. It's an old VOR 25R/L approach to LAS. Take off RWY 7. Intercept the 082R, outbound off LAS VOR climb and maintain 8,000MSL. At 7,000MSL (and about 13 - 14 DME) I was told to level off and we did a steep turn to the right to a heading of 270. Once established on 270 I was told I was cleared direct to BLD VOR and to hold as published (if you're following along on a plate you'll see how this is an interesting set-up) so I figure it out enter the hold and get cleared for the approach. Just watch your speed (110Kts target) and you're good to go.

After the sim is the 2-on-1 oral interview. First question was tell us about you. Second question was what would you learn at Scenic. Third question was what makes a good pilot. Then we looked at a TAF. Then I briefed the Long Beach ILS approach. Then I was asked if I had any questions for the company. I did, asked them and that was it. I got a letter of acceptance a few days later.

I was placed in the hiring pool and have now missed two classes. However I should be pretty high up the list and feel pretty good/ok about the next class when ever that may be. I think it’s a company worth waiting for and would recommend them to anyone.

Why have you missed the first two classes? Can you do me a favor and post how long it took from the time you got accepted until the time you start class. I have heard several different things and just curious to see how long of a wait to expect.
Thanks

I've missed two classes because the classes have been only 5-7 people each and there were a few people ahead of me in the pool. I interviewed on 5/26/05 and the next class (which it looks like I didn't make) is Sept. 26 so that will have been four months and still no class.

Keep in mind the last class before I interviewed was April 9. So there were pool folks from all of the month of April and the three weeks ahead of me in May so there was a bit of a back log.

I still think it's worth the wait ...
