Right now I think people are focused on keeping their seat rather then moving.

How does the captain upgrade work, is it somthing that you bid when you have enough seniority, or does the airline handle it more like a promotion like any other job?

Hey Doug, What was upgrade time back in the good old days? What was the fastest upgrade you can remember? |

Fastest upgrade at Delta? 13 months. I've got a friend that got hired as a 727 flight engineer, got off probation and then upgraded to 737 captain in MCO. Fastest upgrade at Skyway? Instant. The chief pilot hired his buddy and made him a 'street' captain. A 'street captain' is a pilot who's hired and regardless of seniority, starts as captain. |
