Default questions about getting a heli rating

what is involved?

considering I already have the private, instrument, and soon commercial, what will I need to get my rating?

how many hours will it take to get the rating? I heard having private alone makes it much easier since ure not totally new to aviation.

how much will it run me on avg? (private, inst addon, commercial even? turbine addon?)

I might consider going to a heli place tomorrow and ask some questions, see what they say.

thanks guys!

oh, and on avg what does it cost to rent a heli?

I have heard it takes an airline guy about 60-80 hours depending on how quickly they pick it up to do a commercial rotor add-on. This is assuming you have a commercial airplane. High on my to do list. I am just waiting for that time when I have 20 large burning a hole in my pocket.

Problem is your still going to have to pay to for the first 200-300 hours before you would be able to get a job instructing anywhere.

~250/hr for a two seat trainer schweizer sp? or r22

According to the regs you can get it 60-80 hrs. The question now comes into ins requirements. Most require at least 200hrs heli to teach. Sometimes it as high as 300 hrs.

How do people typically get enough time to teach?
