| From my perspective looking at the pictures it looks like he came to a really sudden stop.

| That, and the gear didn't look like they were down (I only took a cursory glance at the pics). That's less energy to remove that went into the cabin.

Very sad indeed. I can't even begin to imagine how tragic this is for his family. They are definitely in my thoughts. It does seem to show us that when your time is up...it's up. I was involved in a auto accident a short time ago. Just about every emergency responder looked at my funny and more than one asked me how I was still alive. All I have to show for it is a small scar on my arm, and some pretty wicked pictures of a torn up 18 wheeler. I don't know how I lived through it, except that some higher power judged it not my time...be it God, fate, or just plain luck or whatever. Sometimes that "whatever" above has other plans. That doesn't lesson the tragedy of the situation any. What it does do, to me anyway, is make me realize just how short life can be. Live life to your fullest. I know I'll tell my wife how much I love her tomorrow. RIP, Ben. Hope where ever you are is better than this world could ever be.

On a personal note, he and I were just getting started on the merits/demerits of the H&K P2000 vs the USP compact argument.

I think that is correct, I am well aware of the forces of sudden deceleration on the body, I'm just commenting that I have seen accidents that looked worse and were survived. Fate is indeed a fickle thing.....

Ben represented the best of this "community" with his insight, encouragement and experience. A true loss.

| Well I'll rug-rat with you. It's not fair. In fact it is DAMN unfair. What we all need to keep in mind is that "why" is not something we can figure out. Trying to will just make you crazy and angry. Just know that it can happen to anyone anytime. Live life accordingly. Don't waste it.

WOW. Just noticed this after being on the site multiple times today (now yesterday I guess) Don't know what to say...Gives me the creeps and chills. I've been around aviation for only 8 years and this is the first person I 'know' who has died. I feel sick. I instantly thought this was a joke when I saw the thread title. ![]() RIP good sir. May your family find peace. |

Rest In Peace Ben, your witty posts will be missed. I never met you, though I wish I had. By the pictures it looks like you flew it all the way to the ground, cheers for that. May your family find comfort. Tailwinds.

What a shame. Again, like so many others, I didn't know him even though we were both in the SLC area, but I feel awful for his family. Once that fund gets set up for his family, count me in as another contributor.

I never knew you Ben, but I can see that you were loved. If your family reads this forum, they will obviously know you were respected and revered. RIP, my friend.
