Default Cargo plane gear collapse in PHX (Thanks OTP) :)

Just saw this on local news this evening. An Ameri-Flight aircraft gear gave way on landing. Pilot not hurt.

The Beechcraft BE99 plane, operated by Ameriflight, landed with its gear up at 6:40 p.m., said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. No injuries were reported and there was minor damage to the plane, Gregor said.
A gear up landing resulting in minor damage? I doubt it. Glad the pilot is ok though.

Naw if they did it right, there really would be minor damage to the aircraft. The 99 would end up landing on the flaps, skidding on those and the nose and only doing damage there. I'll bet you they take the thing, replace the flaps and the nose and possibly the props if they had any damage to them, and then ferry the thing to Burbank for more heavy MX and inspections.

Dad has a story about a 99 that geared up on it cargo pod. They pulled some jacks from the hangar, cycled the gear to get it on its wheels, 'Ops check OK' the gear, punched the pod a couple of times to make sure it would still hold bags, and it was flying again in an hour.

wow. I always thought that a gear up landing would stress the airframe to the point that it is not airworthy. I guess if you let her down gently though it just destroys the paint job.

Wasn't me, I don't think we even have any AMF PHX JC'ers here

The Beech 99 is built like a brick chit house.

my old CFI flies 99's for Amflight out of PHX, I'll have to give him a call and see what he knows....

I hear it was one of the "old timers". I think he's the oldest "old timer" AMF has.

I have no clue who it actually was, but I already forgot his name (GD?) He keeps newspaper clippings of all the AMF accidents he has been in. He has got some stories, God bless that character.

Seminole!! lol...

Seriously, there have been some gear collapse incidents where there was some structural damage, but the airplane can be returned to service. I'm very happy to hear the pilot is okay, as well as the animal cargo
