| Air Canada announced that Boeing has advised them deliveries of their 787's could be delayed as much as 30 months. Ouch. I'm disappointed that Boeing is having such a hard time with the 787. The plane is a true game-changer, but a thirty month delay??? I think Boeing's next plane won't attempt the same worldwide production model they attempted with the 787. Boeing seems to be awfully quiet on the new 747-8's progress too. I haven't much of anything regarding that program in quite a while. I wonder if Boeing has bit off more than they can chew. ![]() and still is!Boeing was just announcing in the last few that the "reported delays" are untrue and the 787 is still scheduled to deliver on the last scheduled date they gave! in otherwords..no new delay, just the same old one. "No further delay in 787, Boeing says By Dan Hart Bloomberg News Related 787 plan is "achievable," McNerney tells Boeing workers Latest delay of Boeing 787 pushes back first delivery to third quarter of 2009 Positive side to Boeing 787 lag Boeing said there hasn't been any further delay in its 787 Dreamliner and that some planes will be delivered about 20 months later than originally scheduled when the company is at peak production. The company responded to a report Saturday by the German newspaper Die Welt that said the first planes may be delayed as many as 27 months, citing a letter from the aircraft maker to an unidentified client. "There is no change to our schedule for the 787 that we announced in April, which has first delivery in the third quarter of 2009," said Boeing spokeswoman Yvonne Leach in an e-mailed statement. The 787, Boeing's most popular new plane, has been postponed three times since October. The first customer will get its first plane at least 14 months later than planned, Boeing said last month. | |

| Old Skool | Plus when you use so many new materials and new production techniques, it's bound to happen. I'm sure the customers were warned this was a possibility. |

| Old Skool | ... and it appears that there is some contract language that compensates them for the delay. $4 Billion hurts.
