Default Allegient Overrun at Fort Collins

http://www.coloradoan.com/apps/pbcs....TOMERSERVICE02

KFNL is my home airport, and I've seen these guys come in many times. I've seen them make A4 using the downhill runway (33). This was the uphill runway (15). Assuming the paper got the time right, the weather was interesting, but apparently benign:

KFNL 042015Z AUTO 09005KT 10SM FEW110 19/M05 A3002 RMK AO1
KFNL 041955Z AUTO 14005KT 10SM CLR 19/M05 A3002 RMK AO1
KFNL 041935Z AUTO 17003G16KT 10SM CLR 20/M04 A3003 RMK AO1
KFNL 041915Z AUTO 15007KT 130V190 10SM CLR 18/M05 A3003 RMK AO1
KFNL 041855Z AUTO 00000KT 10SM CLR 19/M04 A3004 RMK AO1

It will be interesting to see the cause of this one. Too bad for the pax. They could have walked to the terminal in about 5 minutes...

I guess those MD80s don't have antiskid eh?

' The pilot slammed on the brakes and passengers "could smell the rubber burning," she said.'

"You could smell the burnt rubber."

oh and I agree on this one:

"In terms of going bad, this is OK," Benz said. "I feel bad for the pilot."

I wonder what will happen to the pilot(s)

it says they tried to backup the plane on their own.... how is this possible? with the reversers going full blast, trying to pull the front wheel out of gravel? lol

The weather here yesterday had the potential for microbursts - small ones anyway. There could have been one and the AWOS didn't catch the worst of it.

I said interesting, not bad. The registered gust was very close to the reported time of the incedent.

Heh, I got my private license at KFNL. Looks like it was a pretty standard weather day out there.

Damn, that sucks. I remember hearing those guys on the CTAF a couple of years ago when I was working on my instrument rating - used to do the ILS and NDB appch there.
