| I'll be honest - I've been really frustrated lately with the prospect of making flying a career. A number of factors have made me rethink the idea. However, yesterday I was reminded how incredible flying is. This might not seem too exciting to some, but I spent most of the day doing touch n goes on a 25' wide asphalt runway, and capped off the day with some some pattern work here: http://airnav.com/airport/77T Bombing it onto the soft field over trees and power lines was one of the most enjoyable flying experiences of my life. I got back to Austin and saw about 6 T-38's getting fuel. It was one of the rare opportunities I could look at those things and think, "Man, I bet those guys wish they could do what I just did." Thought I'd bring some good news to the table...

| Well, doing the kind of flying you did IS incredible! Its a blast. You'll never experience that same kind of excitement at the Airlines, if you do, well its probably been a bad day at work! ![]() Flying for a career is definitely great. If I had my way, I'd do it until I retire (we'll see what happens). The kind of excitement you had though, well thats just good old general aviation fun! The first time I landed in a grass field, diving over trees just like you did, I couldn't wipe the smile from my face. Makes you feel like a real aviator. Now I just push buttons....but its still fun! ![]() |

| Old Skool | Yeah, and what you just posted is why I probably will never find myself getting a paycheck from a company for flying. That'll take all the fun out of it. |

The fuel truck was scheduled to arrive last week but couldn't drive up the really crappy road after the rain. I'll try to check again later this week.
