The government definition also makes Eagle, ASA, Skywest, and other feeder operators "majors." Do you think of Skywest as a major airline? I certainly don't.

You're parsing and omitting the fact that the only reason they're defining GA is to tax or not to tax it.

If the only consequence of being a "major" airline or a "regional" airline, in the terms of what the government thinks, is relative tax or regulation rates then yes I do consider ASA, SkyWest, etc major airlines.

There is a big difference between definitions made by the government and definitions made by us. Or are you saying that regionals shouldn't be allowed to make that much money? The number is arbitrary anyway.

This bill is very acceptable.

Quote:
If the bill is approved by the full Senate, it is expected to keep avgas taxes at the current rate of 19.3 cents per gallon, but increase jet fuel taxes to 36 from 21.8 cents per gallon. There would be no change in the taxes on airlines. And no user fees.

I'll have to read the final language to make sure, but it sounds pretty good. As long as NATCA is finally receiving some help, I'll be happy.
