I could've sworn that this forum is where I saw a link to them for sale, but I wasn't able to turn it up on a search. A clear plastic laptop case that is just larger than the computer. Not meant to take the place of the laptop bag. Instead, you put the computer in this case and just take it out inside the case at the TSA checkpoint. The case protects it if it's dropped etc at the checkpoint. Also seemed like it'd be a good way to be able to stick your laptop in a larger suitcase safely and without the danger of a flight kit damaging it. Anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? This was probobly a year or two ago that I saw this... somewhere anyway. Now that I feel that I could use one I can't find them! |

Found one for a sMacBook. ![]() That's all I could find with google....even with using this search string: hard case OR sleeve +clear OR transparent OR "see thru" OR crystal +laptop OR notebook +protection -macbook -ipod So since google is so 1337, I believe its fair to say hard cases only exist for the MBP.

My next project is to make a hard case for my 14.1" laptop. I've so far had two corners of my laptop punched in. 2 USB ports, firewire, and the 5 in 1 flash card reader destroyed. Glad 1 USB port still works at least. I try to wrap the laptop in clothes and put it in the center of my rollerboard but the system gets screwed up by the TSA. Oh, and I don't have room in my flight case and I'm NOT dealing with a separate laptop bag. Sooo... I'm planning on wrapping the laptop in a thin cardboard to make the 'mold' and fiberglassing over it (or maybe I'll use that green foam used for floral arrangements). Between the major hull repair of a sailboat and the construction of a Lancair...I've got access to plenty of glass and epoxy. I'll probably glass all around my cardboard mold and then saw it into two clamshell halves. Then I'll glass/epoxy 2 hinges (cabinet hinges?) to one side and some kinda latch to the other. If it works I'll post pictures, if it doesn't I'll deny I ever tried |

I'm talking of more like a hard plastic sleeve that the laptop goes into. Guess I should have bought one when I first saw it. | |

I did find some cases that might at least provide the compact size anyway... http://www.protectcovers.com/grabngo_laptop_cases.htm http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/TBP/TB0300 The second one looks like it might be the best for my purposes, although I could simply not attach the computer to the first one. |
