I once heard a 777 captain refer to ETOPS as "extended over water operations". But then found that it has nothing to do with water, just how far the aircraft can fly between suitable landing airports. i.e.-desert or polar regions. I was about to try to correct the previous post before looking it up on wikipedia!

Rumot- A dear member mis-spelled "rumor" one day and we all harassed him relentlessly about it. Now if you see someone saying "Here's the latest rumot!" They mean "rumor".

I just read this in the "hired by eagle" member announcement thread.

"Im doing it through flight safety in Vero Beach. Its the 3 week course. Includes 12 hour of Seminole time 6 hours PNF and 6 hours PF. Also 20 hours in the EMB-145 sim. 10 hours PNF and 10 hours PF."

What is PNF and PF?

PF- Pilot Flying

PNF- Pilot Non Flying

In a 2 person crew, on each leg one pilot is the PF and the other is the PNF.

PF = Pilot Flying
PNF = Pilot Not Flying

Usually this is picked out prior to the flight.

Speaking of PF, PNF...the newly supported term for PNF is PM.

PM: Pilot Monitoring, supports an active flight crew environment instead of Pilot Non-Flying - which suggest a pilot doing nothing.

that's from a popular cell phone commercial. It stands for, "I don't know, my best friend forever, Jill." The basic premise of the commercial was a mom asking a daughter who she was always texting so often, and because the daughter was always texting, she replies back verbally using all of that short-hand that you use on a cell phone, like:

OMG (Oh MY GOD)
INBD (It's no big deal)
TSNF (That's SOOO not fair!)

Check out linky:

shouldn't we be keeping this to JC and/or aviation terms and not all acronyms?
