|  CFI Jim Spaller severely injured in a crash 30West recommended that I use Jim as my CFI up here in the Syracuse, NY area and I think a couple others here know him. He was in a crash last week that killed the pilot he was either training or doing a checkride with. For the record, this was a seaplane so all the reporter comments about him crashing 500 yards shy of the airport are moot since they were attempting to land in a nearby pond. It seems as though the drag on the seaplane when they went into a planned simulated engine failure on approach was too aggressive to recover from. Anyway, if you can, say a prayer for Jim (who is in critical condition) and the pilot who passed on. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.s...nd_to_rep.html
