| Junior Member | Quote from the FAQ´s at their website: Why is NAA discontinuing its scheduled service operations beyond May 19, 2008? What makes NAA's scheduled service operations untenable is the rising cost of fuel, with jet fuel costs increasing 60 percent since 2005. This was a difficult decision, especially in light of the continuing support we have received from the governments and the traveling public in these markets. NAA's modern Boeing 757/767 fleet is in high demand and NAA will redeploy these aircraft profitably in the charter market. Another one! .. how far is this gonna get! ... Airplanes belong in the sky! not freking fuel prices! |

| Senior Member | Odd. Another Global Aero Logistics airlines to cease scheduled operations. That's what? Two out of three? ![]() Hopefully World doesn't suffer the same fate. Best of luck to the pilots of NAA.

| Old Skool | They're not dead. . .just their scheduled service. I never expect them to stick around in the scheduled game. They seem to have a good thing going on the charter side, and I hope (expect) it to continue. |

| Old Skool | Point is that ATA discontinued their schedule service right before the end as well. |

| That explains why I see a NAA's 757 park at PHL GA ramp.

| Old Skool | Yeah, from the looks of it they are staying in the charter biz. They come in ALL the time to BGR on troop charters. I'm guessing with the shutdown of ATA a lot of the charters got transfered to North American and World, along with a few to Omni.

| Old Skool | I was wondering who was gonna fill that gap. ATA did a LOT of military charters. With them gone, someone's gonna have to pick up that lift.

| North American also signed a long term agreement with TravelSpan Vacations to do their caribbean charter flights from JFK and FLL to POS. As stated before, it's just their scheduled service. The charter business has been doing well so they're sticking with what works. Since they'll be pulling out of the Africa market, "Southernjets Innanashunal" will be picking up the slack. ![]()

| ATA lost their military contract which is what finally sent them over the edge. My guess on this would be that Global decided to go with the best pony they have. Seems that pony is World. |

| They did not, however there were rumors floating around. They did announce that they would be ending scheduled service at MDW (sometime around May, I believe), but their West Coast ops would continue. They were still running scheduled flights when they shut down, hence all of the media crazy about "stranding tens of thousands of passengers without even a phone call!" If they were running the charter ops at the time of shutdown, I'd be really surprised if the media would've even picked up the story from the wires... |

| The title got me on my heel for a seconds, NAA is doing great with their military/charter side...I'm surprised it took them this long to pull the plugs on their LOS flight. Plane in PHL is probably chartered by neither Obama/Clinton. |
