When you guys are flying a lot, do you ever lose track of what day it is? Granted in not on the road, but since I got my CFI I have had 3 days off, and when I schedule students, to me I memorize it by okay we fly again tomorrow, or in two days...Anyways, this morning I had absolutely no idea what day of the week it was. Anyone else run into this?

I generally only know what day it is when I'm at home or if Chick Fil A is closed as I walk past it in CVG.

I don't even fly and I normally forget what day/date it is HAHA ![]() Also when a new year comes, it generally takes me a good month or two for me to start marking my paper with 2008 etc. |

That makes me nuts. I mean, I know Chick Fil A is owned by religious types but being in a service based industry and being closed on Sundays is crazy. I don't even like the place but from a business prospective it's crazy - not doody-ing on anyone's religion, just from a business prospective I'm talking.

I love CFA. I hate how they are closed on Sundays - because I can't eat there then! Kudos to them for paying well and sticking to their founding beliefs.

What day it is? Heck, I was lucky if I knew what city I was in when I woke up every morning! At one point in my career/life I was commuting between 3 homes in 3 different states, working a full-time schedule at a major crossing the entire country. I never knew what day of the week it was without looking at my phone and I usually woke up in the morning wondering "where am I and what time is the van".

| A good friend owns a restaurant and is closed on mondays. He tells people his employess love knowing they have every monday off, and happy employess are worth losing the profit from one day. He believes if you can't make money being open six days a week, being open seven will not help.

I usually don't know the date, let alone the day of the week. Now, add crossing the international date line and flipping between Z and local ad nauseum.....eeeecccchhh.... ..but the absolute best was flying an am shift in the pax world. On your 3 hour leg at 7 am, you've been up for 4 hours, sun beaming on you at 350, and making the "tour guide" announcement. The F/As call up front complaining 'cause you woke the sheep. Oooopss...

I lose track of the days all the time. Especially when night is my day. It can get very confusing at times...even more so when you delay and your paperwork then shows 3 flights on a certain day rather than just the normal 2. |

Today is Friday at my house. Tomorrow is a combined Saturday/Sunday, and the next is Monday. I hate it when I have only one day off before going back to work.

About the only thing I can ever tell you is what day in the trip it is. "It's day 3 of a 4-day"....that sort of thing. Of course you always know when it's the LAST day!!!

All the time, especially when you don't have a set roster. Everyone is all excited on Fri and Sat nights because its time to go out. When your a pilot, any day of the week may be your Fri/Sat night. Part of the charms of being a pilot I guess.

One day another instructor and I went to the local place to eat on "Taco Tuesday". Unfortunately, when we sat down, we realized it was actually Thursday.

![]() Sometimes I find myself asking, "why is the airport so dead today? Oh yeah, it's Tuesday!" I'll check on ATC with "good afternoon" at 9:30 am because we've already been on duty for 5 hours. I'll wish people a great weekend on a Monday. But, as mentioned before, the crew and I always know when go-home day is. Even the crews I run into know when my go-home day is, because I have go-home socks!! They have happy faces on them. ![]() ![]() I figure, if I have to put on a suit and tie every day, I may as well add a touch of "girl" to my ensemble.

| And as soon as your body gets used to all the different time zones and running in "Zulu", mother brings you home for a week off so you can start "fresh" again the next week.

I NEVER know what city I'm in when I wake up. I can barely tell you where I flew last week. Don't EVEN ask me names of the other pilots I flew with. And I drink a lot less on layovers so it's not the booze killing my brain cells. (15 lbs off in the last three months by just cutting back on the tasty adult beverages, btw)

I'm brand new at this and worthless...I memorize my show times, and when I show up at the crew room for the show, I print my pairings then to see again who I'm flying with and where I'm going. Don't ask the day of the week during the trip. My wife asked me where I came home from yesterday and I had to look it up on the computer. I just say somewhere back east, it answers all the questions! |

Hey, don't you guys EVER work? Go and fly a plane or something.... ![]() Oh wait, I forgot we're "crew" and have no semblance of a normal life. I dunno, normal seems very overrated. ![]() I have to agree, not only am I never sure of the day of the week, I often don't know what airport/city I'm in. Whenever me or the other FA are making announcements there's always that pause when you mention the city you're going to or just left! Or, when you talk to friends and they ask where you are, you're like, "ummm, wait a minute--let me check my little schedule thingie." BTW, in case anyone's interested I AM working today...but not until later this afternoon... I'm overnighting in BWI with my best friend at Colgan, a Swedish FA who just happens to be beautiful specimen of a woman. (Imagine THAT----I actually have female friends----YIPPEEEEEE!!!)
