A Matter of Time by Don Kirchner is a really great autobiographical book about a pilot who gets caught up in drug running, gets caught and sent to prison, and then tries to start a new life. It's a good read.

They test your urine for glycosuria (glucose in urine) which could be an indicator for untreated diabetes. I suggest you never chug a Dr. Pepper if you have to pee for your physical like I did unless you want a month off work while you wait for the FAA to review your test results.

Or eat a lot of carbs prior to your medical. The best thing is to do your medical first thing in the morning, with no sugar or carbs the day before and fasting after midnight. That way you get no sugar in the urine.

There is also a book called "Chickenhawk" by Robert Mason. It's mostly about flying helos in Vietnam, but there is a point after the war where he runs drugs. A good read too, especially if you're a rotorhead.
