Default Passed my CFI-I ride today!

Just had my initial CFI-I ride today... I got to shoot the GPS approach into KPMP down to the minimums.... broke out at 590 feet and saw the runway right infront of me. After a 5 hour ride, long oral, real IMC ...I passed. Getting ready now for the CFI-A!

Thanks! I might be working with American Flyers at Pompano Beach, FL. The CFI-A is the CFI Airplane.

Oh. I do that. I didn't do my CFII first. I know a few people who did their MEI first.

MulPPl is not MEI..... as far as I know before getting your MEI you have to have your CFI rating first...

You can do any Flight instructor rating as your initial I do believe. MEI is one I know you can do first as an initial ride.

Who did you have for your Initial ride DPE?

Also try and get George Argy for your add-on.

I am trying to figure out what "certified" is coming from in CFI. My CFI certificate says "Flight Instructor" Then the limitations list the normal Airplane Single-engine (no land or sea), and Airplane Instrument.

This is correct. Your initial instructor rating, whatever you chose to do, has to be done at the FSDO. Some FSDO's have preference on which ones they like you to do first.

Congrats! I just got my MEI a couple of days ago.

Was the flight 5 hours long?!?!?!? Or was that the entire thing?

CFI Airplane? What exactly does that qualify you for? I thought there was only CFI, CFII, MEI and MEII?

GJ with Black, I had my Comm SEL with him. I never want to fly with him again. I feel like the guy actually wants to die in an aircraft accident with someone he is examining.

Some people like to say CFI-A for CFI-Airplane. This is because there are also CFI-H and CFI-G and such. Instead of just CFI they like to say what they are a CFI for.

Thank you all...It feels great. Black also did my private.... He has his ways of doing things... I can't wait to do the CFI-A with Argy. Argy is great. I just know that if I was flying with somebody else today I would have never been able to shoot the approach down to the minimums..... lol

I did it at KGKY. I work at Skymates and got my CFI last January. I have just been too lazy and poor to do the MEI.

Good stuff. How much did the CFI training cost you? Congrats! Now you get paid to log hours. Life can't be sweeter than that!

It is called getting paid to only have to log hours for currency

It is a rare job to get though.

You can do CFI, CFII, or MEI as your initial. I know people that have done each.

Its definitely not for everyone. I have had a great time working here, though. Pay is average.

All together was about $5000.00 (The CFI and CFII) that included 140 hours of ground, 15 hours in the airplane, all of the writtens, books and the check rides. All done in about 45 days but a lot of self studying. I see the CFI rating not only as a "time logging" tool. I think now I can finaly start learning something about aviation and how to fly airplanes. It is also a learning tool. 90% of my instructors in the past were nothing but time builders and it hurt me as a student. I want to be able to share the love and the passion with as many young pilots as possible and to be an inspiration....this is one of my goals as an instructor.
