| So im twenty years old and thinking about starting flight training. I only have an associates degree (AA) but, i figured it would be a better career move to get into flying as soon as possible and then go back and maybe get my bachlors online while working for a regional. Just wondering what everyone thinks about this....thanks alot. Tommy |

| i think you can do it. there are a lot of threads on this subject, as well as info on the home page. if you click "search" and college you may get some good info, also the career change threads would be a good start |

| Old Skool | Going to school and working full time blows. But only four more pages by midnight and I am a college graduate. My fourth grade teacher can bite me; "Why are you wasting all your time drawing airplanes, these spelling words are important". I spell at an 81st grade level. Does it show that I was up all night writing a paper?

| You can still go to college and fly too. I usually scheduled my classes in the morning and then went flying in the afternoons. Plus college is a lot of fun and I'm sure the majority of people who went will agree. |

| that is exactly what i was thinking about doing Edawg. ive been to college i have experienced that life and got into my major classes and relized it just isnt what i want to do, i want to fly. but, my goal in aviation is to get to the majors and i think just having that degree is a big deal. it is really sad that just a single piece of paper can have the upper hand on someone that has been in the career for some odd years. yeah i agree with you too beechpilot idunno im still thinking about my decision i might just go to school some more and get my ratings. thanks tho |

| First, welcome to Jetcareers. You'll find this place to be pretty invaluable. Second: There have been a ton of threads about your question. Do a search for "college" and I'm sure plenty will come up. I can think of at leas 2 or 3 other threads from this week alone...

| Junior Member | I have recently asked questions about college. After reviewing everyones comments, I have decided to go back to college and the fall, and get my ratings at a local FBO. I had decided that I did not need college because of all the regionals that were hiring. Now all the regionals are not hiring, and delta is furloughing a bunch of people. That just shows how unpredictable the aviation world is. So, I am in no hurry anymore. I'll give you the advice that another JC'er gave to me. Life is about the journey, not the destination.

| I'm drunk right now, and it reminds me of college, and this is great, so you should probably go to college.

| Senior Member | Absolutely advise going to college, and I mean going to college. College is an experience worth having, and is very much about social growth as well as higher education. Life is about the journey and the experiences one receives. I wouldn't miss college for anything, and highly recommend to anyone else to enjoy the experience as well. |

| Old Skool | well not quite yet. It was the rough draft submission for my final research project, If I get above 85 percent I can choose to keep that grade for the final. I think I did pretty good on it, and probably will get that 85% (which I would keep), but I may have to make some revisions and re submit. But the hard part is done and to me that feels like graduating.
