Anything over 1500 miles gets a $50 increase.

Guess whose little ski trips just got $100 more expensive?

I think I'll be upgrading to first a lot more often.

I would be all over this if I had the time...I missed it by 41 days!!!!This "storm" everyone has been saying that will pass is going on its 4th or 5th year already. Its getting old. If you take either of these packages your gone. They said in a briefing that when they need to hire more people to satisfy staffing in the future they are going to hire ready reserve status only. That essentially means a FIXED pay rate of $9.50 and hour and no insurance. The max a RR can work would be 18 hrs per week. Its a good gig if your in college and want to travel, but for all those people who moan about customer service......get ready. Alot of the people who have had a vested interest in the company will be out and replaced by people who could give a crap about you, your late flight or your lost bag. Its truly a sad state of affairs.

Yeah that sounds pretty stupid to me as well actually. Cutting out all your experience means you will need an exponential amount more of the incompetent uncaring boobs to fill their spot.

Excellent man. Take what you can get, make some connections for the future.

I think a couple of us will eventually get together again for some drinks, it's just a matter of time.

Well as posted by DZERO, it looks as if it's the same deal as Delta's giving for those with less than 10 years service.

The only difference was that Comair offered an additional two weeks pay for those who took the package, weeks of severance was capped at 10 weeks no matter if you had been employed for 15 yrs, and the timeline to accept the package. So I guess Comair's package is monetarily better! It sucked because they came out with the memo on Thursday and the managers didn't have the paperwork till after 1700 and the deadline was on Monday Morning at 0900. Wow alot of time to discuss a life altering deal! Some people didn't even get the paperwork till Friday afternoon. (At least DL gives everyone over two months to make up their minds and even set a offer a specific day to leave the company.) If you didn't take the package and were one of those who got axed, you didn't get didly! Those that were axed were notified on Tuesday. Those that were in a operational sensitive positions, as soon as they were notified, they were asked for their SIDA and employee badges and escorted to the door. They did get 30 days of pay and normal travel bennies. Those in other positions continued to work till their 30 days was up. Oh and just as a warning to those DL guys on here; If you take the package, you can't file for unemployment bennefits, due to you voluntarily leaving the company. Of course HR won't tell you that because they want you to take the package.

That's what companies usually do. They want to get rid of the more expensive employees with all the institutional knowledge in favor of people who are less experienced and cheaper.

Then they wonder, hey, how come nobody here knows how to do such and such and why are our customers so pissed off?

Bribing people to leave who have both the institutional knowledge and the dedication to stay in a place for 10, 20, 30 years is just plain dumb if you ask me.

Sounds sorta like the buy-out SWA offered a few years ago. For every 2 years of service you had, you got a year's worth of travel benefits. You got $1000 for every year of service, or you could reduce the $$$ amount in exchange for health benes. Only difference is it was for people that had been there for 2 years or more, not 10.
