anyone know if a US citizen like most of us here could get into Qantas cadet program or another countys cadet program like india's dubia etihen. Wouldn't i have to change citizenship to that country and how would i do that? i only have 300TT and 40ME but if i could move out there to fly A320, and heavys i would do it. I went to school with a bunch of indian guys down in flordia and they said when they get done with there comm rating they go back home for training into at least an A320 or 737, crazy isnt it? share your thoughts

All others are only open to select nationalities, usually the country in which the airline is based. You can forget Qantas unless you are from Australia or New Zealand. TP Last edited by typhoonpilot; March 17th, 2008 at 15:12. Reason: spelling | |

Their website says that you "should be" a UAE citizen to apply for their cadet program. Is this something that is changing in the near future?

The Chinese would rather employ expat pilots. My buddy left AWAC and went over there in January, the airline paid for his type, 110k base salary 18k COLA (which is a more than enough, he says he has a 1600 sq. ft. 9th story apartment for $280.00 a month...) and 10k travel program so he can go home or whatnot every little bit. All told around 140k USD starting for a -200 pilot. On a side note, Mesa really burned them good and they are refusing the planes, switching to E190's starting later on in the summer. If I were single I'd do it!

Personally I don't think China is a place for American women. Besides the money would she go there? If not I wouldn't even bother.

China isn't a bad place for American women. Living overseas can be quite rewarding. Any woman with the right attitude would do well in China as well as many other countries. That said, it would be a far greater culture shock than the UAE or another country where English is widely spoken. In China that can be an issue for anybody that moves there. A former colleague and his wife have been living in Beijing for 7 years now and they love it. Typhoonpilot |
