Lightbulb Re: guidance

Congratulations on choosing the best career of the modern world! I decided to become a commercial pilot about a year ago, so I'm not necessarily your most valuable source for advice. But, I've learned a lot since I made that choice, so I'll do my best to give you a "jump start".

The truth is, there's no single, short answer to your question. There are a lot of different routes that you can take along the path to becoming an airline pilot, and here on Jetcareers you'll find endless debate over which ones are the best. You should read craploads of articles on here before making any major decisions.

A good starter would be the FAQ here on Jetcareers:

Also, check out all the articles listed under the "Airline Flying" and "Education" tabs on the home page (left column). Reading these right off the bat will save you tons of time compared to searching for all this info in the forums, and much of this content is written by Doug Taylor himself (the founder, aka "The Divine One").

The following links are all valuable resources that I discovered after choosing the pilot's life. Every one of these sites is worth thoroughly scouring.

If you haven't already, this federal site is a must-read. Learn about every aspect of being and becoming a pro pilot, without the flowery language or biased outlook.

Next visit this site, and you'll find a more thorough explanation of each phase of training. Great article!

This section of the site contains hundreds of pilot BIO's, and can be really inspiring.

I highly recommend that you sign up for this newsletter. You'll get extremely practical advice emailed to you, along with an offer for 1 free year of either Pilot Magazine or Flight Training Magazine (your choice). My subscription just ended.

Good luck!
