| Right Seat Time in Caravan or Pilatus? Just a general consensus question: how is right seat time in a Caravan for a 135 operator looked at? My goal is not to continue to any regional or major.
Similarly, how about the right seat time one would accrue with Alpha Flying looked at?
Would other operators take maybe 1/4 of the time you flew right seat in a Caravan for?
Is the 135 experience gained worth the potential bullshazzy future opportunities may throw my way in an interview?
Thanks for the help!

| Re: Right Seat Time in Caravan or Pilatus? I'd think if you were required to operate the aircraft they will take all of the time. I think if you were just keeping a seat warm they probably won't take any of it.
Notice I said think. I have no idea really. |

| Re: Right Seat Time in Caravan or Pilatus? Probably depends on who is conducting the interview. But as a rule of thumb, it is generally not regarded as 'quality' time.

Whoever you work for is going to move you into the left seat sooner than you'd probably think. Unless you are doing this for someone in your town I would never move for a job doing this unless the money was right and you were going to upgrade very soon. If you're sitting at 500 hrs and won't upgrade for a long time I would advise against it. CFI or single pilot VFR135! |

I think Alpha Flying with the Pilatus is the same.
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong! I'm starting to hover at 600TT, low I know. I'm CFI'ing now, working on the II, have the MEI and 43 multi. Graduating in May (hopefully), and looking to move out, and move on.

Do you mean some VFR 135 time will help you get to the regionals?

| Re: Right Seat Time in Caravan or Pilatus? im not sure if misunderstood the questions, cause many others seem to be answering about if it is your logged time is legit or not...im going to go a little different direction with this.
Nothing against guys flying the caravan, but talking to a few that i know who do, they have thousands of hours flying a turbine powered aircraft.....but single. no multi time. i know our operation has overlooked a few of them just because our insurance wouldnt do anything for them until we left them in one of our king airs for most of a year to build up enough multi turbine time to keep them satisfied. if you need hours...do whatever you can...turbine time is great time anyways...but multi seems to be key for more of the corporate world

| Re: Right Seat Time in Caravan or Pilatus? Man, I'd love to get some time in the PC-6..
I wouldn't see the purpose of logging right seat time in one and unfortunately most of the PC-6's in this country only have one seat..

| Re: Right Seat Time in Caravan or Pilatus? It's legit time to put in your logbook if it is a 135 opertor whose OpSpecs require an SIC.
That said, I wouldn't regard it as really good experiance.
Same goes for any other SIC in a single pilot airplane.
