Default My first lesson!!!

Just got home from my first lesson. I fly out of KSYR so we got in before the big storm. It ended up being .9 but it felt like 20 minutes. It was great and the most fun i have ever had. My instructor did a negative g dive and made a pen float up to the top windshield. I taxied with a little of my instructors help, took of behind a regional jet, and were airborne! I did most of the flight and we ended up shooting a visual approach using the ILS instrument so I shot the approach with my instructor trimming it for me on the approach and at about 20 feet he took the controls and landed it! It was amazing and it puts everything in a completely new perspective! For anyone traveling to syracuse or anywhere in the northeast, expect most airports to be closed. Buffalo is closed and Rochester is close to closing at the time of my lesson!

That's awesome! I remember how awestruck I was during my first lesson, I can only imagine how you feel! I think we fly into KSYR a few times a day, I was just there last week.

It definitely gets better, as soon as you actually start practicing maneuvers. I have only logged a few hours, but there is nothing like the first. congrats!

Awesome dude. I got back from my second lesson of the day just before the crap hit the fan at 3pm. As soon as we were taxiing in to shut her down the drizzle started coming.

Glad someone else got to enjoy the break in CNY weather today

congrats on your first lesson..

I still remember mine (just over a year ago) like it was yesterday. The smell, the colors, the feel, what I was wearing...it's incredible.

I've taken a couple discovery flights where they do that. It's fun.

Congrats, man. I started in October and I'm getting close to finishing - stupid weather keeps popping up on the days I can fly, though.

Yeah. I see no problems with negative G's if the passenger wanted to do it. I dont really have any flying fears so it was fine with me!

Be careful my friend...This is how it all begins. Next thing you know you will find yourself at the airport bar, coming home later and later, and then it will hit you. Why the hell did I just spend $60 bucks on rounds of Polish on a Tuesday night hehe?

Take off by yourself as in Solo or without assistance?

I took off alone my first flight and every flight after? I mean, barring any crosswind the plane will take off without much help from you.

Now as for landings not so much yet.
