| Old Skool | To the SR20 and SR22. I love those planes, but my x-country in the 20 puts one helluva dent in my pocketbook. But in the end, it is worth every penny ![]()

| Junior Member | I've flown one from OK to MS, and at first didn't like the avidyne.. all of my glass time comes from the G1000. Then i realized that if every screen craps out on the avidyne, you still have a nav/com/gps with those beautiful 430s. I like the Columbia's side stick better though with its central pivot point. |

| Old Skool | I hate all airplanes that advertise in "rich people" magazines and make you think you're getting an airplane that that can do the same types of things (read: FLY IN THE SAME WEATHER) as a business jet. "Its like having four first class seats." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? PS, wait til the place your rent from has to send the Avidyne out for the software upgrade. Ours has been down for a month and they can't tell us when it'll be done. Great customer support that is... |

| Junior Member | My flight school I work at lost one of those screens. EXPENSIVE! TFaud, why would it need a firmware upgrade? |

| Old Skool | All I know is that I enjoy that plane much more than the Cessna and Piper I've been flying. Not that Cessna and Piper has bad planes, but I'd rather put my money on the Cirrus to rent. Key phrase = my money.

| Junior Member | Oh I'm not knocking you at all. if I had the luxury to do that, I definitely would. Flying junk is horrible. And they are a very proven airframe. |

| Old Skool | No knocks taken. I tried to say that without seeming harsh or like I'm biting back. One of the things I've grasped from posting on this boardand other boards, especially from mtsu, is that everyone is entitled to their opinion and sometimes it won't be in your favor so you gotta roll with it.

| Old Skool | Let me clarify my take on Cirrus. If you intend to use or own one for personal travel, in which you can be flexible with your schedule, by all means, go for the Cirrus. If you intend to use it for business travel, in which schedules are not flexible, or if you are prone to having "get-there-itis", then do the NTSB accident investigators a favor and go with something that is more capable of safely and LEGALLY completing the task. |

| Junior Member | So are the Garmins getting the WAAS upgrade? |
| |
| | #11 |
| Old Skool | Not our units...its not worth the cost for us due to the fact that we go to just a couple (ILS equipped) destinations , but we will hopefully be selling it soon, so having all the other upgrades taken care of will be a selling point. |

| The Cirrus is a nice plane. But I would much rather rent a Cub or a Decatholon, or some sort of open cockpit bi-wing if it would be available or something to that effect if I was gonna spend more for a plane rental.. to put around in on the weekend, you get the idea. I dunno, the Cirrus/Columbia type planes just bore the crap out of me. I wouldnt mind having one of course though ![]() But would pick a million other planes for that amount of money if I was to buy one. (yes i kno were not talking about buying anything here, but still) |

| If you ever want pissoff a Cirrus owner just ask him..."Is that a piston plane you got there?" ![]() Is it just me or most Cirrus owners think they are the s#lt? |

I'm sure that there are good Cirrus pilots, I just haven't met any. Just a few days ago I watched an Air Taxi shoot our GPS approach - read not WAAS (minimums 500 AGL) - when the deck was 150' AGL. Watched this guy circle to land on the same approached runway because he didn't go missed. Popped into the coulds on the circle with no way the runway was still in sight (I couldn't see him either) in a descending turn for final. Guy landed with a ton of ice on the airframe then proceeded to do a quick turn and take off into the icy white stuff. Scary as hell watching that landing. We've got towers around here ya know I find this to be pretty typical of the Cirrus mentality.

| Yeah, I'd trust people on this site without having met them, I just wish those people would fly near me. |

heh heh. If that is who I think it is, the guy is an egoist with horrible airmanship. I'd really like to kick him in the balls for the sake of doing it. That guy scares the crap out of me.
