| I was down in Nogales not too long ago and spoke with a gentleman flying a caravan who was ferrying folks (missionaries) back and forth into Central America. That might be a good starting point for you. See - I'm not that bad .

When I did some research it seems a bunch of the positions required an A&P. Start the apprenticeship now! Help out at your local shop, sweep floors, change oil, clean spark plugs. Log it all! -Jason | |

| I'm attending flight school at Bob Jones University aviation, and I'm sure I could put you in contact with some people that know quite a bit about missionary flying. PM me if you are interesting in talking to someone. |

| Junior Member | I've already been in contact with a few of those organizations. And I've already started looking into getting my A&P at an 18 month school. Thanks for the recommendations guys. |

| Junior Member | Man I'm taking a thrashing here. I'm far from perfect, and I'm NOT a holy roller. I'm just a person looking to help people and make a difference in the world. I don't care if chicks dig the fact that I'm a missionary pilot. I never play the pilot card and do alright. Really though, you guys took an honest and sincere question and turned it into me defending myself! And you know, I see the sarcasm tag. Believe me when I tell you I'm one of the most sarcastic guys there are, as well as a cut up. But a serious question like this is neither the time nor the place. Thank you for those who gave me serious information. |

| Sorry amigo. I respect the heck out of missionaries and support them financially. They tend to be folks who want to help people out in this world and the next. If anything, I was saying have a sense of humor, and if you are going to take offense at a little crassness, change your avatar to the church lady. I looked into doing some mission flying, but I wasnt up to writing a 10 page story on how holy I was. I have a missionary friend, and I will send him an email to see if he has any contacts and pm them to you. good luck. |

| Junior Member | Granlistillo, if you only knew me you'd know I have a sense of humor that often gets me into trouble! But I try to take my flying seriously, and I figured it would offend people if i came in talking slang 'bout gettin' put on with a missionary outfit. It is one thing that I have to take very seriously because of the boss! But i must say I was rolling watching the video with Francis. I just can't remember the movie. |

| I have been distantly considering the same idea. MAF sent me a book on Nate Saint, and it is incredible.

| Junior Member | Man RVS is CRAZY these days... regularly 7 planes on each side of the pattern. I've ran .7 on the hobbs just waiting to take off! But I'm in Arizona now, for the past month. Better cash to pay for A&P school. Are you in Spain with the Air Force? |

| I was in Spain in the Navy half a lifetime ago. My home, family and bidness are in Spain. I had been coming back for reserve duty in conus, and got on flying for a regional. The fam should be joining me at the end of the school year here in the states. |

| Junior Member | Good to hear. Welcome back stateside. I feel a bit 'tarded, as it took me a minute to figure out what "conus" meant. haha |

.7 to wait to take off? Come on now..........tell the truth. The most I've ever racked up waiting to take off was .5 and that was with nine planes in line ahead of me back when we had Chinese everywhere. Although, today while I was on final after coming back from OKC, some guy was giving the tower lady crap about how long he had been sitting there waiting to take off. When I was about 1/2 a mile out he decided to inquire about why he wasn't cleared to take off. Then he gave her some more crap and I keyed up and politely said that he couldn't leave because I didn't want to land on top of him. Right about that moment I went from left to right in front of him and nothing else was heard on the radio!! Some people..............![]()

| Which book was it? Incredible story, incredible life he led. His son Steve seems to be following in his footsteps. There are a lot of books out and a movie about the passing of Nate Saint and the other missionaries. |
