Default 50 ft. take off roll?

I came across this video, not sure if anybody has posted this before or not. I thought it was pretty interesting.

Probably forty-five or fifty-five feet. Each one of those persons has to be at least five or six feet tall.

If the man closest to the plane is 6 feet, I calculate 30 feet max for the take off roll. The plane rolled 5 times the distance of that man's height before becoming airborne. If he is 5 feet tall, then we are talking a 25 foot roll!

There is a video on the Alexis Park Inn website that shows a Cub taking off in like 16 feet.

You are right. The distance would be between twenty-five to thirty feet. I was just eye-balling the distance originally, but my estimates were way off.

I meant "hear". I can't belive I just noticed that, and it won't even let me edit that post, so I had to quote myself. Stupid.

Fairly certain that those are Aviat Huskies. The rights for the Super Cub were bought by Aviat then they modified them for bush flying. The most noticeable difference are the tundra tires and flaps. They are also farking expensive.

When I flew a Maule M5-235 the take off and landing roll was around 300'. And yes, in Moultrie, GA at the Maule factory they take off in the hanger and are airborne before leaving it. The runway has grass growing in the cracks because it is not used much. Most use the ramp.

The Chief Flying Instructor of the school where I learnt took off into a fierce Westerly. He was in a 7GCBC and took off in about 30 feet. This day was freakishly cold for this part of Australia - it snowed in places it had no right snowing. Most GA people grounded themselves.

He went straight up, more or less, then inched forward, backed off the throttle, and came straight down and landed where he started his takeoff roll. The mains touched down with a groundspeed of maybe 2-3 knots.

Superb.
