I'm hearing reports that two jets collided about 32 miles south of Tyndall AFB... has anyone heard anything of this?

Oh geez. That'd make it 5 F15s in the last ... 3 months? http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/20/jetcrash/index.html hope the pilots punched out okay.

I don't think we have lost F-15's at this rate even in combat

Off the coast of Panama City Beach supposedly 2 F-15s collided. I saw this posted on another message board (not aviation related), so the info might be false. Anybody hear anything? ![]() edit--- Well, I guess it's true. ![]() Quote:
edit Again, Thanks for merging the threads, don't know how I missed this one.

The two pilots have apparently been recovered, no word as of yet on their condition, will have a link when it makes it online.

Hope nothing to major. I cannot imagine the force of the ejection if they were able to.

| Bzzzzzzzt! Wrong Maxie! Two F-15E's were lost to ground fire during the Gulf War. Israel has also had some F-15 combat losses.

Besides, everyone knows the "E" model isn't a real F-15. It's all about the C model!

F-15 has never suffered an aerial loss. IE never been shot down by a mig29, etc.

On the night of January 18, during a strike against a Petrol Oil and Lubricant plant near Basrah, an F-15E was lost to enemy fire and the pilot and WSO were killed. F-15E crews described this mission as the most difficult and dangerous mission of the war as it was heavily defended by SA-3s, SA-6s, SA-8s and Rolands as well as of anti-aircraft artillery. Two nights later, a second and final F-15E was downed by an Iraqi SA-2; the crew survived and managed to evade capture for several days and were even in contact with two coalition aircraft. Search and rescue units refused to cooperate because of battling egos of SAR crews and Special Forces teams lest one take credit for a successful rescue over the other.[8] The two F-15E crewmen were soon captured by the Iraqis. Security issues also hampered a rescue because one of the crewmen didn’t properly identify itself on the radio with proper codes. The crewmen were paraded on television as war trophies. Glad to hear the crews are OK. I was based at Seymour-Johnson working on the E model when one went down from the 336 FS. The WSO didn't make it out, it was pretty bad. Mark

| Old Skool | http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,331558,00.html EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — One of the F-15C fighter pilots involved in what the Air Force said was likely a mid-air collision Wednesday during a training mission has died. The other is in goos condition at Eglin Hospital. Rest in Peace, brother. Good luck for a speedy recovery to the other pilot in "goos" condition.
