I used to hang out at studentpilot.com when I did my private, it was a very helpful forum as most of the people there were students, private pilots or instructors. I don't even know how I came accross JC but I was lurking for some time during industry's downtime and I saw lots of airline pilots bitching about everything, that scared me away for a while, but after things started turning around I got attracted again by favorable comments about the industry and hirings so here I am interested to see how people managed to find their place under the sun in aviation business. I did learn a lot, got the insight in how the industry works and I'm hoping it's going to work for me as it did for many in here. I tried some other forums though, but none seemed to be as interesting as this one.

Why am I at Jetcareers?????????..... Well this place has grown by leaps and bounds since I joined back in 2002. I was getting out of the Navy and was looking at pursuing a career as an airline pilot. Found a lot of information about DCA. Went to DCA and posted my experiences(good and bad) while I was there, so that I could help others. I've met a lot of great people on here, some who will be life long friends! I'm here to learn from other members and to give back the knowledge I've gained to others. What I really enjoy about JC is drinking with Doug and the rest of you guys!![]()

What has JC done for me? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING lol EXTREME EXTREME ![]() But seriously I love this website and the people on it Im 16 and plan on starting my training sometime in April and ever since I stumbled on this website last year ( I still don't know how I got here lol) Its like (Second thought I do) have a family obsessed with Aviation. At school when I look up at the planes on the approach to runway 4R at EWR (I live about 10-15 miles south) I just stop and look at either a Air India 747, Continentals,Alitalia 767, and too many others, and kids will say oh Matt look its a AK-47 idiots obviously the mean the 747 but it actually feels good to know there are people that if I happen to mention Airbus,Cockpit (yes their are people that don't know what a cockpit is), Boeing, 777, 747, A340, and other things you guys know exactly what I mean. Another thing is the Trading Post, that is the best thing to ever happen to me, just within the last couple of monthes I was contempating on how I am going to afford over 200$ in books and just last week I got my first book, Jeppesen's Private Pilot Manual, and guess how much I paid or what I'm going to pay today a matter afact ? just 4$ to cover shipping for a book that retails at 40 dollars, courtesy of 88MPH , and I already have another deal to get 3 more books for 15 dollars, courtesy of MoreRightRudder. Another thing is my game plan, oh man has JC changed that. I planned on getting my PPL and then after High School go to ATP and waste almost 60,000$ when there is a flight school about 10 miles from me that can bring me to my Multi-Commercial for only 30,000$. I also planned on not going to college thinking about getting to the Regionals quicker, yet everyone here has shown me the importance of getting a degree and I plan on appying to Vaughn and Dowling Colleges in NY in my senior year next year. Words don't describe how much this website contributes to who I am, and what I am going TO BE. Every day I come from school the first thing I do is thank god for escaping Spanish class lol![]() , and then I go on JC . Thanks JC for everything

I didn't really know Doug at the time, but I sent him a message with my resume to see if he could get me an interview anywhere. It was super-awesome of him to take someone who contacted him out of the blue and get me not just one, but three interviews!!! Thanks Dough! |

Why am I here? Very easy, nice bunch of people & I enjoy helping people out & showing people another side of aviation, the fun side. I enjoy putting tours together for the group as it is a learning experience... Of course, the icing on the cake is that Tony & I tag-teamed Paris Hilton, true story

Why I am at Jetcareers: 1) The most user friendly aviation forum: When searching the web for info on an aviation career, I happened upon several forums, JC being one of them. After getting bashed for being a "noob wannabe" pilot at several other forums, I quickly realized what stood JC apart: Plenty of people that care about more than just themselves and were very willing to share advice with uh "noob wannabes". I have soaked as much of that knowledge up over the last few years. 2) To meet new friends with the same interests; network: I have met many new friends by being a part of JC. It may seem weird to say you met your friend on an internet forum, but I am really happy that I have met so many great friends here. By attending meet and greets, and the great Network JC Las Vegas, those relationships have grown stronger. 3) Paying it forward: I have always been a huge proponent of this concept and that is what JC is all about. Even though I am a low hour, non-airline pilot, I already try my best to help others. Someday, god willin!, I'll make it to the big seat in the sky and wil pay lots of info forward as well. Cheers JC!

![]() The odds of me ever entering the aviation industry are very slim. I like what I'm doing, I have a good career track in front of me, and it's easy work. But, that doesn't mean I don't really enjoy heading to Vegas once a year to tear it up with you folks. Hell, I might even do a keg stand or two for you. And it might even show up on Facebook. And no, I don't care. If someone wants to say that it's wrong for me to tear it up in Vegas and thus I can't work for them, I don't want to work for them. | |

I liked living vicariously through your careers in aviation, which I envied. Now I'm "livin' the dream" myself. JC gave me the confidence to follow my dream. I've also made some very wonderful friends here. (I hope you know who you are and how much I value your friendship!) ![]() Amber---hang in there, someday real soon, you'll return to a career you enjoyed Pre-Kids! Trust me, they grow up VERY fast....

I honestly don't remember; It was either Alchemy or Screaming Emu. At least I think. Maybe both. Besides that... It's good keeping in the loop about aviation and being part of this crazy community. I don't post that often but I read a lot. |

Eh... Originally, it was because I asked the owner of Ari-Ben Aviator if I could put in a good word for the school somewhere as a thank-you for his help getting me my first airline gig. He says to me, "Just go say something nice about Aviator on JetCareers.com" "JetCa-who?" I say. So I look it up. I post a slobbery valentine post crowing my semi-miraculous achievement of getting hired with the credentials I did. Kinda let it slide for a bit. Fast forward a few months. I'm hanging out in the Albany crashpad. Okay.. er.. living there. There's these two dudes, Airdale and Seggy, and they're ALWAYS banging away at their laptops... ... guess who... TA DA. Now here I am.. damned near every day, bringing you nice people loads and loads of Charlie-coated pilot-y goodness. Thanks for putting up with me. The doctors say it really helps. >twitch twitch<

Why am I here? Because the majority of JC knows the TRUTH about GoJet!!!! ![]() I'm absolutely kidding. For me, this was the only place on the net where I could research this industry and get HONEST answers to almost any question I had. Folks, that is what makes this place invaluable. There may be some heated topics come about (like the one I started ), but ask any question and you're sure to get honest answers from at least someone, without the bs. Thanks to JC, I feel like I am educated on the industry enough to make smart decisions - like avoid GoJet! |

I'm here because when I started dating a student pilot many years ago he would say "hey read this" and I'd end up reading a thread or two. Eventually ended up posting and throwing in my $2.00 on the politics and other such nonsense threads. I lurk around the other sections mainly because I don't know enough to contribute, but reading has really helped my knowledge of the industry and just what the heck i'm getting myself into by marrying this guy. I also stick around because you guys are my friends. more than interweb buddies - just a group of friends who I happen to communicate with on a message forum (could be email or anything else - this is just most convenient) |

I started posting on JetCareers way back in 2001, when I was a "know-it-all" college student doing an internship. That internship led to a job right out of school, which led to another job, which hopefully leads me to my dream job. The entire time, I've been here, chatting away about flying, but most importantly meeting some awesome, awesome people. There are people on this board who I will always consider life-long friends. That is strange to say, considering we all "met" on an internet message forum. These are guys and gals I would bend over backwards for. This is a very small industry, and it's refreshing to know that it is full of people like we have here. Most importantly, I am here to try and encourage anyone just getting into the industry, or those who are getting frustrated with it, to keep pushing along and following your dreams. I've been very fortunate for all that has happened to me in my career thus far. This is a great job... Getting paid to fly airplanes across the country, always learning new things and meeting interesting people. I hope that in some way I can show that this career can still be fun!!!
