i have a flightcom 4dlx headset. the only reason i purchased it was cauz it was inexpensive. My question: is there any way to prevent the bothersome ache that develops on the top of my head cauz of the cushion???.. i think its called a hot spot? any quick fixes apart from me shiftin my headset every 5 mins while in flight? someday i'll get myself a good DC headset. worn those a couple of times.. and maaan!.. those things are soo comfy! gotta get those gel ear seals for my flightcom headset too... ears heat up pretty quickly!.. damn.. need to save up!..

You'll find something wrong with a good majority of the cheap headsets. Like you mentioned a lot of my students complain about the headache deal after wearing their 'cheap' headset after a lesson. I highly recommend a good ANR headset. You can't get your hearing back.

See if oregon aero has a kit for your headset. They have wider cushions that distribute the weight over the whole head and make the headset more comfortable.

| Moderator | My dad has a cheap pair of Softcomms that I refuse to wear. I go headsetless before I will wear those. He'd worn cheap headsets until I loaned him my DCH10-13.4s when his cheap pair broke. This was 2 years ago and I still haven't gotten them back!. Last time I flew with him (last summer) he "let" me wear my headset and as he handed it over he says, "that's a damn nice headset". I laughed and said "yup". I let him keep it, for now When I'm ready to get back into it I'll buy him his own set.I guess you get what you pay for. Save up, a few bucks at a time if you have to, and get a decent set.

I'd go with a new headset as others said.. Only way to make it comfy. I'm still on the hunt for a headset. 'Rentals' are pretty crap, though I think someone a higher numbered av-comm made it into the mix and it is infinitely more comfortable than the others. Still gotta find a place I can try some on before I bank.
