Default Top Ten Airline Meals

The next time you're stuck in seat 23B, think about the folks who are enjoying these kind of meals.

Gotta be nice!

Yet another reason I love corporate jets.

Should have seen the nice little feast we had on board yesterday from Florida to Chicago.

Just watching those made my stomach scream like an A320. I've never heard of a 10 course meal!

And that is why, if I ever go back to flying, it's going to be in the corporate arena. I would love to have the tools to really be able to give top-notch service to folks like that.

Thing is, these kinds of meals are on airlines. There's absolutely no reason we can't get these things on longer flights on domestic airlines.

Well, other than the fact that Joe Twelvepack will want this for $150 each way, not the $1500 that's needed to pay for it.

Hmm, the article rated Gulf Air as the winner, because they are the only airline with a "chef on board".

Austrian Airlines does that with big success since a long time: http://www.aua.com/at/eng/About_Flig...e+Business.htm

I used to fly quite a bit on Delta. When I would get a domestic upgrade, I actually missed the snack pack because the first class meal was awful every time. This is coming from someone that'll eat about anything.

I only wish I could afford that food, let alone the airline ticket to enjoy the food!

I have actually had a chance to take a couple of those airlines and the food is great. Foreign airlines almost always have better food than american based airlines.

I used to work at an airline meal catering place that prepared meals for both international and domestic carriers.

The domestic airlines had their food shipped to the kitchen in frozen cartons. If a domestic flight needed 150 economy chicken dinners, we went to the freezers, pulled out 3 large boxes (50 entrees per box), and defrosted them.

The international airlines had cooks and chefs preparing each meal individually from scratch. Each month, the respective managers of each airline would come and taste the meals to confirm quality.

It's little wonder all the airlines on that top ten list are international.

Yup, we line service guys LOVE it when you biz-jets can't eat everything on board and let us have it.

But then, I've seen the catering bills that come in too. $35 for a few bagels and cream cheese? You all MUST be crazy. Your Miller High Life privileges are revoked!

Tell 'em, Steve. Once you go corporate, you NEVER go back! I ALWAYS loved flying on our company's G-III's and IV's! Nothing like it in the world.

How do they fry stuff in the air? Isn't that against some FAA/JAR fire laws?

We all have the tools to do it. We just may not have enough of those tools.

The tool you need is dollars. If you've got enough to spend $10K for a ticket, then you can get that kind of food.

Of course, it might be cheaper to fly coach or business class and then go dine in a top notch restaurant when you land!

Every one of these great meals comes from you guys into the lineman's hands and is untouched, the food just keeps on giving. I had the best lobster of my life by getting what was left over after a Gulftstream came in... mmm.

If you saw what was the problem with the water level sensor that I fixed on 737 when I was a mechanic at Delta, you would never drink the coffee again.
