| Old Skool | You've got to be kidding me. I think this one might take the cake for being the most ridiculous move the FAA has made in regards to the ADIZ in quite some time. Quote:

| I guess they're concerned since all the big wigs will be in the same place. Still sucks, though. |

| They obviously think there is some kind of a threat this year but it still sucks for any GA pilot based inside the ADIZ.

| Old Skool | It happened last year. Even the carriers on the DOH "approved" list have to get special briefings from dispatch during the event. |

| Senior Member | They have done this every year since the creation of the ADIZ around DC. I instruct out of Manassas. But considering its only from 8pm till 11pm, its no big deal. I guess since I have been dealing with the ADIZ since I began flying this is kind of a non-event and not really a big deal. The only time the president really becomes a pain is when he decides to go to Quantico and make a speech. Then we get a TFR at Manassas and its normally in the MIDDLE of a day, thats when I start to lose money. -Rob |

| Actually, they just want YOU to think there's a threat. "Subservience Through Fear" ought to be the Bush administration's motto.

| 400-hour wonders will still be able to fly their RJ's right into the ADIZ and FRZ on Monday night. ![]()

| Senior Member | Even if they didn't close it in other years, this year does make sense... Think of it this way... election year... 3 of the front running candidates are currently U.S. Senators. Not only could someone with a sick mind take out almost the entire US government (thank you Tom Clancy), but could also eliminate the potential next president as well. However, that kind of threat is not going to come from GA... but restricting GA flight might help lower controller workload so they can possibly be a bit more aware of anything happening that is out of the ordinary. |

| I can see it now: Some hotshot 150 jockey is going to show them a thing or two about user fees. YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS GADGET!
