Lets say you emailed, faxed, and pass out as many resumes to any regional or major within the required mins of coarse and one called to offer a job and then the next day or weeks, another airline called you for the position. Would you wait for the perference airline you want to work for to call you for a job offer? OR Go for the airline that called you first? Opinions please. This is a hard decision right?

Take what you can get until you get something better.

I'd go with the first call. What if the airline you prefer never calls?

Might depend on what your current situation looks like. Are you flipping burgers or bagging groceries to pay the bills? If so, your economic quality of life is at a pretty good level (at least on a par with some regionals), so there isn't any reason to jump at the first job that comes along just to put money in your pocket, eh? In that case you really need to determine what other factors are important to you, personally, and how important they are. A single guy may have a lot different opinion on whether or not moving is a problem. Medical benefits (hah!) can be a factor for people with dependents. Upgrade time (hah again!) can be the carrot that some are chasing. Some people tolerate crappy work rules better than others, so they might rate a place like Mesa differently. Bottom line, at least to my way of thinking, is to figure out what things are important enough to you to wait for, and what isn't so important. If you really spend some time to think about what you want and why you want it, you will have a clearer idea if it is worth the wait or not. (How is that for a non-answer? I should have gone into politics. )

| Agent Smith | The airline that I really wanted to work for back in the day never called until I was off probation at the carrier that DID call. But by that point, the "place to be" had shifted to the place I was working.

Take the first offer. You can always quit when something better comes along.

This happened to me here in the last few months. Except that the airline I wanted most called first! I had no one calling me and then all of a sudden I had 1 interview, then 2, then 4! I scheduled all three with my top choice having going to first. As it turned out, I went and found that another option worked out FAR better! (no commute, faster upgrades, near equal pay, same equipment, fairly stable) so go to as many as you can as they come. Moral of the story? You may find that your first choice may not be the best choice for you! Just my .02! Hope it helps

You don't choose a regional, they choose you... Just kidding... Go with the first one unless it is really not going to work out for you. I applied to my first choice a couple weeks before the others and they ended up calling me first and I got the job. If you already have a job offer and are hoping another calls I wouldn't hold out and I'd go with it. Unless it's a GoJet or Mesa... If you haven't sent out the resumes yet then start by sending to your first pick, wait a week or so, then send to your second pick, etc... so on and so forth...

Depends. I waited until I knew I was qualified for exactly the one I wanted to work for. If I had been on the verge of starvation, I'm not sure that would have been an option. So, I made lots of money.

It's kind of hard to pick and choose which airline you want to work for. Go with the one that calls you first, unless it's Mesa.

| No, it isn't. I decided exactly which one I wanted to work for, applied, and got the call within 6 hours.

| While that may have been your experience, it is not indicative of the industry as a whole.
