it was the FO's turn to fly the a/c so he was the Pilot Flying and the CA was PNF, working comms, etc.

Sometimes the FO flies while the CA works the radios and vice versa.

Often times though, even if the captain is flying, if an non standard event happens that doesn't require immediate FLYING actions, the captain may hand over the plane and the radios to the FO so they can focus on troubleshooting and fixing the problem.

Oh my...

Reasons NEVER to do stupid stuff on an overnight AND if you do make sure there is no camera there. Apparently, the Captain was a bit of a freak when he was an FO.
