| Junior Member | I did a bit of research here on jetcareers and found a few threads about AirSafety Flight Academy in Glendale AZ. It seems many people have a rather bad opinion about it, and their opinions always seem biased. Does anyone have anything constructive to say about the place? I don't mind if your comments are negative, just so long as they are not a biased rant from a chip shoulder. Any first hand info on the place would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joseph |

| I took the tour. Facilities are nice. Their sims are just MS Flight Sim with a yoke and throttle. They seem a tad expensive (though similar to ATP and others). You will have the option of doing limited training in a Cirrus if you want to pay a bit more. They guarantee graduates a 40K salary as CFI's with no contract. All of this is on their site. BUT As someone who considered going there and is going a different route, I may suggest something. Get you PPL at an FBO (Arizona Aviation maybe) time build in a 152 or if you can a little in a tail wheel AC (for skill and kicks). Study on the ground and pass the instrument and commercial written tests yourself then take an 11 day IFR course and even accelerated commercial course. If you need a class environment for ground study I believe there is a place at Falcon Field offering structured ground classes for the cheap. Oh and buy Flight sim ![]() CFI's then apply to work there if you want (they are really looking). Anyhow, it REALLY would be the SAME thing. Just that it would be about 20,000 bones cheaper and all in the same vicinity. |

| Junior Member | I'm already a CFI. I'm going there to instruct. Accepted the job, so we'll see how that goes. I have to report there by Feb 1st. |

| See ya when you get here! I'm the resident slacker at Air Safety... got through my CMEL and CSEL and now I'm stalling big time on my CFI ratings. I do some computer work for the school, but need to get back in the air and finish the CFI stuff. The staff here are good people, and you should get along with everyone pretty well unless you're a complete idiot and/or jerk. Some people on these forums have been at odds with Dee Pinkston in the past, but if you keep your head down and do your job you shouldn't have any issues. We're a little short on space right now, but they're looking at moving most of the administrative offices, groundschool classrooms, and simulators to a separate location a few miles from the airport. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the school. |
