| Hello everyone, have a quick question for the Comair folks. On another website, someone mentioned Comair may begin furloughs of F/A's as well as MX. Pilot hiring has slowed, or stopped, and they may have furloughs' too. Is this true? I know Comair is in flux right now, but was hoping someone could sort this out. Anyone care to jump in??

| Junior Member | The memo from the employee site I believe stopped short of using the "F" word, but it did state that managers across the company would be challenged to look for ways to make the operation more efficient or keep the operation as efficient with fewer people (not a direct quote, sorry). I would say you are correct, though, in that the first to be furloughed would be F/As and MX personnel, as their attrition is nothing like the attrition on the pilot side (30/month). Keep our fingers crossed! |

| My jobs on the chopping block as we speak. It will be two of us, but no one knows who they will be. I just go to work as ususal and quietly search for other positions...just in case. There will be severance packages from what I've been told.

| Old Skool | Comair has been in a constant state of "who knows what the hell is going on?" for quite a while. After working for them for almost 2 years, this does not surprise me one freaking bit.

| I have been at Comair almost three years and I expect to be out of a job at some point in 2008. I think the only thing that could save Comair would be a sale to an investment group or something like that. I can't imagine anyone being stupid enough to by Comair considering how Delta is in the process of dismantling it. With no buyer I imagine we will continue to shrink until we are gone, or a merger will occur and that will be the final nail in the coffin. |

| I truly try to stay positive. When I'm on trips and hear nothing but doom and gloom I try to ignore it, but the morale here is at the lowest level. Some still do, but really no one gives a "fudge" anymore. The pilots/FA's/Mx have given up so much. The way I look at it is, at least I'm not at Mesa. ![]() |

| Old Skool | XJT pilots might start thinking about furloughs, too.

| Old Skool | Hope not, but worse things have happened in the world. If we furlough it'll give me a chance to go back to graduate school finally. |

| I remember when I first started flying I always wanted to fly for ACA or Comair. I hope things get better over at Comair. This industry is such a roller coaster. |

| from what i know hiring stopped, upgrades stopped and a message on the website said we're losing some planes in 08 (beyond what was already expected). i think they said 6 extra or something. already not enough FO's and CA's to go around so who knows. according to our little charts we have negative numbers of FO/CA reserves in JFK. |

YET ANOTHER REASON I NORMALLY AVOID THE BOARDS THERE. Sometimes will go for a laugh there though. If its so bad....please do us all and your fellow crewmembers a favor....and find something else to do. Its come down the pike that DL is changing things, and this that an the other....etc etc...yada yada yada. I've only been here 1.5 years, and for the most part i enjoy flying with a majority of the people. But there is always that small % that likes to continue to preach doom and gloom, GET OVER IT. Who knows what will happen-and if something happens deal with it. The bidpackets and staff grids continue to say we need people......take that for what its worth. People are still moving on to bigger and better jobs.....good for them, and it should continue to inspire people to not make your only career focus a regional for all your life. Sure its good to work for a "best regional"-but that definition is different for each persons perspective toward every different airline out there. There are those of us that want to move on in our lives. / sterotype rant | |

| Senior Member | I am actually looking forward to attending the interview and seeing what Comair has to offer. "Doom and gloom" and "negativity" are all parts of this industry. I knew this the day I applied for my student loans and have never let myself forget it since then.

| Agent Smith | When did ALPA begin allowing pseudonyms? On DALPA, it's all on a first-name basis. I kind of like it that way.

| With the current pilot staffing level all you guys are pretty much safe from cuts. It'll be MX, dispatch, crewshed, F/A's and administrative jobs.

| Just looked at the Febuary bid packets- and there are still new hire classes going. Alot more of the movement looks like poeple going up to the 70/90 jet. Which is great because it will free up some slots on the 50 seater side, and make the schedules better for poeple more junior. |

| Here's a tasty tidbit I learned yesterday.(this is confirmed; not a rumot! ) Most of the block hours cut are going to be out of everyones fav base JFK! DL wants to cut RJ flights in and out of JFK before the Feds cut them. There will be a cut down to two pushes. There will be an A.M. bank and a P.M. bank, allowing DL mainline flights in and out of JFK in between both banks, keeping the number of RJ's in and out of JFK down to a minimum.
