| Hey Folks: My passport is due to expire on March 1st. What is the best way to renew? How much does it cost? Thanks! |

| Agent Smith | Check to see if your airline supports expedited renewals first. But here's some info: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get...renew_833.html

| Mine will expire this year what can you do while your passport is getting re-new about jump-sitting to work/home? As I understand it you have to send your old one and eventually they will send it back. |

| Moderator | When Bill's was up for renewal last year he sent it in while he was on vacation. Off for several days, and sent it in with an expedited request. It was back in his hands within 5 working days.

| Agent Smith | Too bad he hasn't recently had the "pleasure" of visiting the French Consulate for the Shengen Visa or dealing with the Russkies for the Russian Visa.

| Lou, if you need to have it expedited, go to the passport agency at Rockefeller Center. It is expensive (last I checked over $100), so as Doug suggested, I'd check with the company to see if they can cover it.

| Moderator | I sent mine off last April or May, just doing the standard renewal. I'm not working and I didn't need it for a trip or anything, I just wanted it renewed. I think it took about 3 months.

| thanks guys! But I do not work for an airline....I am a CFI out here in the San Joaquin(Cali), for now! (ya know, the school that that longest thread ever is about). Some people told me post office. Others said online. Do I have to get a photo taken? |

| All the answers to your questions are in that State Department link Doug provided. The normal, non-expedited fee is $67, and you have to provide two identical, recent (within 6 months) photographs. I had to renew my passport last year, and went to my local FedEX/Kinkos to get my pic taken, but I've seen Walgreens and CVSs offering passport photos as well.
