| Hey, is there anybody here that commutes from KSYR or KROC? If so, how has it been and are you usually able to get home on time when returning from work without burning one of your days off? -fly safe BronxATP |

| It's a 93 miles drive. Get real.

| Agent Smith | Slow down there, Pistol Pete! I don't think he meant commuting FROM SYR to ROC, I gather he meant commuting from SYR or ROC. Pilots may love to complain, as you noted in the other thread, but we tend to have above average reading comprehension! ![]() If you're talking about flights between the two, I'm not sure if they do now, but my airline used to fly ROC to SYR on a 727 back in the day. That was my first leg on IOE!

| Jetblue have a late night flight out of SYR that I got a few times when I was based there. They'll put you in any open seat, even if it's the F/A jumpseat that's attached to the aft crapper door. |

| A friend from training commutes from SYR to ORD without much difficulty. I think its mostly RJs that run that route.

| There's also SYR-EWR and SYR-CLE on XJT/CHQ/Commutair. I don't think SYR is a problem. Not to sure about ROC.

It was coincidentally on a Jetblue flight form MCO-JFK. I felt bad for the guy because once we were above FL10, he stood up near the lav the whole way to JFK. | |

| Junior Member | I fly to SYR quite a bit, there are direct flights to CLE and EWR (XJT, as already mentioned), and ATL (ASA). I feel like I've seen a NW DC9 there, so that probably goes to DTW. There are also direct flights to/from ORD, BOS, JFK, PHL, IAD, and CVG, so that gives you a number of other options: AE, COM, AW, and Me...oh never mind ![]() |

That wholly depends on the schedule you have at the airline you work for. If your show time is 9pm and your release time is 9am on the first and last days of a trip, you could probably make that commute without burning time on days off even if you were based pretty far away. Good luck getting a schedule like that though.

| Old Skool | HAHA. sorry about I just saw 2 airport codes and I assumed it meant between the two. Depending on where you are commuting TO, makes a big difference. XJT, and Pinnacle should have plenty of flights. ASA might be a bit harder since there closest domocile is in Atlanta. But i havent checked the flights.

| Old Skool | Commuting to any of the three NYC airports on RJs is darn near suicidal. Lots of O&D traffic, meaning lots of early shows and late releases Ground stops daily, plus you get the shaft because your flight only has 50 people while the mainline flights have 150. High COL so lots of people commute. There are quite a few CAL guys up here that have a 400 mile commute. The easiest way to get to work most of the time is drive. The physical distance of a commute has little bearing on the overall ease of the commute.
