The Vietnam vets were the genesis of many of these most notorious "pranks". And I can name at least one captain it happened to. (I won't out of respect for the dead.) In fact, there was a cadre of poopers keeping vigil on his flightkit should he ever relax his guard. A padlock wasn't enough protection after the guys found out that maintenance had a bolt cutter in their tool inventory.
