Anyone know what the average washout rate for the different regionals are? Just out of curiosity. Also, any idea as to how long reserve usually is (at PDT)? Not a big deal, but j/w as well. How do you guys that work there like it over-all? Good place, good people? I saw PDT dash-8 landing at Hilton Head when I was there on a trip to Florida and back 2 weeks ago. pretty cool , pretty small airport was somewhat surprised to see airlines going into there. Must be a fun place to overnight. |

I have to say, the new colors look awesome on the USAirways and USAirways Express aircraft.

| Doesn't matter. If you study hard and have the prerequesite skills, you will get through. If not, you will wash out. It's all about you and your approach, not numbers.

Congrats though on getting through SOE and training as well. Let us know how it all works out for you on reserve.

Sim sessions are about 8 hours as well. 2 hour brief, 4 hour sim, 1 1/2 to 2 hour post brief. Total time for me was a little over two months (first day of class to completing SOE). There are still people that were in my class who are still waiting for an SOE instructor, so for everybody, total time in training is different.

Thanks for the info. Is SOE the same as IOE? 4 Hour sim that's gotta be fun, and I'm just curious what's the hardest part about the training in your opinion?

The hardest part for me would have to be classroom instruction. I've always been a hands on type of learner, so with no visual aides in the classroom, it was more difficult. Back in the day, during the classroom training, they would actually take you to an outstaion base, and let you start an engine, do a walk around, ect. Not anymore. I guess it was costing the company to much, or something.

Also, PDT has the Dash-8-100 and 300. When you start flying for them do you fly either just the 100, or just the 300, or do they switch you around?

A friend of mine just got hired at PDT and has loved it. Everyone I've talked to or PM'd here has loved it as well. Is this just a temporary thing like usual or do you think a few months down the road (april) things will be the same? I'm stuck in KAVL right now and everytime I see a smash-8 taxi out I can't help but think.. |

I'll be honest--PDT is my number one goto when I get in the ballpark--pay is good, I love the Turbo Props, I live in EWN and would LOVE to be based there! I have done all my training there and I love the place. I think even having to commute from there wouldn't be bad. I have heard that the work rules are good and the idea of staying local is fantastic. Doesn't really matter to me what the upgrade times are--I think it would be a great experience and frankly I have not heard anything really bad about this company other than the contract expires in 2009(?) and that the lease on aircraft are coming due. I also know this company has been around a while and seems to be pretty stable (in a very unstable world). I met one of the HR recruiters (Tammy?) in Cancun last October and she was really nice and very encouraging. I think I could work for a company like that--- One of the few questions I have is are they union? |
