Merger Gossip Part Deux

Heard recently from some F9 FO's that Republic Airways is in the negotiation process for acquiring them. Apparently during their contract negotiations there were 170/75 pay rates and some merger clause(s) proposed by management.

It would be monumental for a regional airline to buy a major. I wouldn't put it past Bedford to do since he seems to have very little interest in small jets these days and F9 has had some very difficult financial issues. They've publically said a merger or acquisition is something they're very interested in.

Word over there is an announcement will be made in the next 5-6 months.

This is hardly a new rumor. I first heard it when they announced that REP was going to do flying for F9. I don't give it any more credibility now then I did then.

Why would Republic buy Frontier? Frontier is losing more and more money every day and is having its' market share eroded by SWA.

Just from what I've read (I'm not drinking company Kool aid yet

), RAH seems very poised to grow. I've heard rumors about E190's and see a payscale for those now. Its has me very curious. RAH is pretty profitable, and Bedford seems like he knows what he's doing by being aggressive in the market and returning profit into the company for growth.

To be honest, I just have a hunch Republic is going to do something unheard of in the Regional Industry, I just don't have a clue what. I can't see us flying E190's for a Major, thats just not right and I don't know which Major would want that. Yet, E190 rumors floating around, I'm curious to what the companies future plans are. I wouldn't want to be flying E190's under someone elses colors anyway. A RAH Captain I ran into in PVD last week was saying he felt like RAH might make a move with their own "Circle Of Stars" flying, but who knows. I hate speculating and I'll just sit back and keep trucking along towards getting on at Continental.

I'm just looking forward to getting through training and seeing what being an airline pilot is all about, not like a beat up punching bag at Colgan.

I heard that Gulfstream is actually merging with Burger King. They're getting ride of the flight school and implementing an industry first 100 hour training program where you learn to operate the deep fryer. Only $70,000! You heard it here first!

Read the article in this magazine. Last months issue. It features an interview with Bedford, and he makes mention of RAH possibly getting 190's, but for what, he doesn't say!

To fly them for Frontier and/or JetBlue. If the industry does tank, for majors if pilots concede to more scope clause changes.
